very nice and large room with private pool
Perfect room, private pool, beautiful scenery

The room was excellent with one bedroom and one living room. Private pool is also awesome even it's not that big but way better than just having jacuzzi tub.
If you come in a group of 3, you can just stay in the room for 2 person without charging for the third person. You can sleep on their sofa-bed with no problem. Only you won't get free breakfast for the 3rd person. :)

Wonderful honeymoon
Small resort, beachfront, private pool, wonderful staff
9,7
We had an amazing honeymoon at Niramaya. The staff were wonderful, helped organise activities and transfers for us, and very kindly allowed us a very late checkout on our last day.
The villas are spacious and beautifully appointed. The private pool is exactly the right size for two people to float around comfortably. Our breakfasts were made to order each morning and the food was great.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
You can hire a scooter from reception, it's the best way to get around the island. It's very quiet and safe, so scooter novices don't be afraid! You can get all around the island in 45 minutes or so. Although the food at Niramaya's restaurant is good, make sure you try lots of the other restaurants on the island too - the food is amazing.
We had a massage at the resort which was amazing. Another day the staff organised for a local to take us out to the nearby islands on his longtail boat. We fed wild monkeys, snorkelled and saw inside an enormous limestone cave. It was an unforgettable day.
We also took Mina's Cooking Class which is highly recommended if you like Thai food (if you don't like Thai food, you shouldn't be on this Thai island, really).
Koh Yao Noi isn't a party town - it's very relaxed and the locals are friendly, but that's because the relatively small number of tourists are respectful of the local culture.

The hotel was beautiful, had lovely views out to the sea. The staff were very friendly and accommodating and nothing was to much trouble for them. Had plenty of pampering and the masseuse were good.
I would stay there again. We hired some bikes to go around the island.
Restaurant was good but limited.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Best hotel on the island

we absolutely loved niramaya and koh yao. it was a charming little hotel on a charming island. the restaurant ni the hotel was honestly one of my favorite restaurants i have tried in thailand. just simply delicious. one day we rented mopeds and drove the whole island which was a great activity. our olny regret was that we only stayed 2 nights! we would have loved to have some more time to take out kayaks and just relax at the great pool attached to our 2 story villa as well as the main pool. anyone staying here will have a remarkable time and i cant reccomend it enough over the standard phuket holiday.

If you want bland creature comforts, stay here.
Great views, good food, great service, ok design
7,3
I'll note first that I live in Southeast asia and travel a lot and have become a little hard to please!
The good parts:
good, friendly service. Good food when ordered a la carte; breakfast was a bit ordinary but edible. Good for families. The views - if you get one of the 4 villas that overlooks the beach and out to Phang Nga Bay, are absolutely incredible. The main pool is really nice, with waterfall etc.
The bad parts:
Why don't Thai developers use thai architectural styles designed for the tropical climate? The design felt like they were trying to build what the thought western people wanted, and therefore ended up slightly wayward of the mark. For example:
- you need aircon on all the time, even at night, otherwise the place overheats as it has bad solarity and air ventilation design.
- toilet and shower don't have air vents, meaning you have to open an external door to ventilate them, lest they vent directly into the bedroom, which lets in mosquitoes.
-All villas have a "private pool and bathing area", but they are not so private. Only one of the villa pools had proper screening from the public areas; some of them are right next to communal footpaths. What's the point of having your own pool if you can't get romantic in it??
- they forgot to build a dedicated spa, so converted a villa into a spa. so its a bit of a weird ambience, but the masseuses are very good and professional.
I got this place on 50% discount (USD per night). I wouldn't stay there for any more than that... its just not value for money. Better to stay at 1000baht bamboo hut at sabai corner, or go maximal and stay at 15000 baht six senses, or for couples, stay at Koh Yao Pavillions.
Restaurant Tip:
Try going to Koh Yao Pavillions restaurant. Great food, good service, very casual but intimate.
The Niramaya does have good seafood barbecue.

Romantic getaway, exotic island, fantastic service
hotel staff great! room superb! nearby islands and scenery fantastic!
9,3
we stayed two nights after 4 days and new year's in phuket. niramaya is a restful antidote to phuket traffic and hustle, and a wonderful getaway for couples and families. i would not go there solo as there is little to do except relax and enjoy the scenery and quaint lifestyle around the island. koh yao noi shows island lifestyle that is generally quiet and reflects traditional muslim-thai lifestyles. do not expect bars and nightlife here, but do expect quiet relaxation. the hotel staff were genuinely nice and helpful, and the rooms and pool are excellent. the massage is ordinary so go elsewhere to get cheaper prices. this is not like anantara or centara hotels in thailand but it is a classy, comfortable hotel that serves only 12 units and gives individual attention to guests.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
We booked a day trip for snorkeling and sightseeing and enjoyed seeing the karsks, islands, and beaches. Snorkeling was below average if you have been to Hawaii or the Caribbean, but day trips to Phi Phi and Krabi are worthwhile for the scenery alone.
