Not a true 5 Stars hotel

Air-con is off after 10pm
3
The hotel switches off air-con after 10pm. Asked us to open the windows where the air in Beijing is terribly populated. Noisy and insects flew in. Could not sleep and called the manager in charge at 2:00 am and they refused. Cancel the remaining 2 nights and changed to other hotel.

Nice hotel with superb views

View of Forbidden City from rooftop restaurant
7
We stayed in a deluxe room, which was quite large. The room was fine, but the view from the rooftop restaurant on the 20th floor was breathtaking.

Nice hotel with great central location.

location

good breakfast buffet! not much else around for breakfast. walking distance to forbidden city and temple of heaven. some staff can be helpful with getting taxis others, not so much. also walking distance to the best duck restuarant in beijing! just ask the staff. they will know. check out a kung fu show also! nightlife district requires a taxi ride to get there. taxis in beijing can be difficult to come by and some are less than honest. keep a close eye on drivers during money transactions. passing of counterfeit notes is common. or they might claim that you gave them a phoney bill and frustrate and confuse you until you end up with phoney bills and they with your legit money. write down their license # and call the police when that happens!

Basic Hotel in Good Location

Good for tourist traveler

the room was okay. clean, but not terribly modern. the whole hotel is rather dated. breakfast is good, but not spectacular. the location is very good -- near the center of beijing. the temple of heaven and forbidden city are not far away. you can walk to a nice shopping area (or short cab ride). price is good, so it's a good value.
Shopping Tip: There is good shopping on the street just south of Tiananmen Square.

Great Hotel

Well priced, close to everything, good staff

I really enjoyed my stay here. Good location and within walking distance to many of Beijing’s attractions- Tiananmen square, forbidden city and the Temple of heaven. Many of the staff spoke English and were great in arranging a one tour to the Great wall.

Nice room- good location

The room was very hot and the hotel could not put on their air condition. There was no place in the hotel or even near by to grab a fast inexpensive breakfast

Terrific Location and a Beautiful Hotel

Huge, spread out, wonderful facilities, quality deluxe room, indoor pool facilities
10
not having ever stayed in a 5 star hotel we have nothing like it to compare to. however, we were very pleased at the service, cleanliness, and presentation of this hotel. very spacious deluxe room, and the normal room service (cleaning, re-stocking) was terrific too. there is an indoor pool that was a bit on the cool side, but it didn't detract from our daughter having fun in it. free, clean, magnet-locked locker room, and clean showers in locker room. several dining options available, the coffee buffet decent, not grand. the 20th floor italian restaurant, though a bit pricey, was fancy enough and tasty, with amazing views overlooking downtown beijing (tiananmen square, part of forbidden city). hotel in excellent location, just a few blocks from above named attractions. we would definitely stay here again!!
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Book a private guide ahead of time if you are looking to tour Beijing. We booked ahead of time, and not through the hotel. Getting taxis is otherwise tough and big crowds, well, just aren't as fun! So, look into private tours with private drivers - it is WELL WORTH THE COST!

wifi, location,

Hotel had good amenities and was in a good location making it a good value for a budget traveler. The walls were a little thin and the room was a little smokey. Free wifi was nice.

old, big hotel, average rooms, air conditioner was not functioning in the room. hard to locate taxis from this hotel. i would choose a more "central" location on the next visit to beijing
