good location, comfortable stay

good location, close to major tourist attractions.
7.7
a very standard hotel with standard services provided, nothing special. got a free upgrade to capital club room, not entitled to most privileges and essentially the room is the same as a deluxe. a comfortable stay though.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: since the hotel is walking dist from tiananmen sq, its a good opportunity to catch the flag raising ceremony early in the morning.

Great location and spacious rooms

location is within areas of different embassies, safe and quiet, room size is adequate
8.3
The location, generally good services experienced within reception, restaurants, housekeeping etc. happy to have chosen the place because the location is not too busy, and its also safe bec. its around country embassies. But its also just a 10 min walk to famous shopping places like wangfuging, tianan'men square, forebidden etc. Great value for money! the only negative comment i have is that there was 1 day when our towels smelled cigarette smoke!
Restaurant Tip: There's a restaurant across the hotel where they serve roasted peking duck with bread. its really good and cheap!

Great Location, Good Service

Very convenient and hotel staff are friendly and helpful.

The hotel is within 10-15 mins walking distance to Tiananmen Sq. and a long shopping street called Chi'en Men (just across Tiananmen Sq.). Hotel staff were very helpful and provide assistance in booking a private van to bring us for a day tour to Badaling Great Wall, Ming Tomb and the "Cube" (Olympic Stadium). If you need a taxi, just inform the porter at the entrance and he will assist to inform the taxi driver of your destination. The rooms were spacious and very comfortable although the bed was a bit hard for my standard. Overall, a good choice for our first trip to Beijing.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: To go to Tiananmen Sq., just turn right after you are out of the hotel and walk the same row as the hotel straight till you see the building that has the pointed Chinese roof. Similar building opposite the Tiananmen Sq is Chi'en Men, with a long row of shops (can't even finish within 2 days in between other sightseeing). Along this street you can find Starbucks, UniQlo, Zara with restaurants for food. The famouos Qianqude Roast Duck main branch is here and thus, a good place to visit. If you turn left from the hotel and walk for about 10 mins, you can find the subway.

Nice Hotel and staff but restaurants aren't great

Rooms were nice, Hotel staff spoke English, Booking tours in Hotel
6.7
Overall, the hotel looks very nice. It is well kept and is rather large with ammenities such as a bowling alley and fitness center. The price for the rooms is reasonable for what you get. The rooms were nice at first but the beds weren't. I have stayed in Hotels all over Japan, Korea, Hong Kong, and China, and these beds were by far the hardest I have ever slept on. The food at the hotel was generally overpriced except for breakfast(especially for being in China.) A buffet dinner for my wife, myself, and 3 year old daughter cost USD $88. If you wanted to order al la carte, expect to pay dearly for things like coke or juice ($4.50-$6). The breakfast buffet (USD $30) had issues as well. As an example, the French toast used stale bread one day, another day there was no syrup, and another day they put vegetable oil in the syrup bowl. We ended up eating out most of the time due to the food. However, it is a 5-10 minute walk or 5 minute car ride in order to get to places with a wider variety of food. On the positive side, we booked two tours from concierge(a city tour and a great wall tour) and they were excellent. Be warned though, almost every tour in China will bring you shopping to places like a pearl market, silk factory, etc. These excursions can be fun, but there is no way around them. The location is good and within walking distance 10-20 minutes from the Forbidden city.

Great location

location location location ..close to the subway station and all other transports
7.7
great location for all your needs and taking a bus to the subway station right in front of the hotal within 5 mins. Overall, Hotel Condition/Cleanliness is one of its weakness. However, no complaint should be made within that price range. I will stay there again if i go to Bejing next time
