Handy but not really comfortable

Close to station + close to the lake + mant restaurants around
4.7
Geneva is an expensive place for accommodations. Capitole Hotel offers a better rate but the service provided is questionable. It is close to the central railroad station, but at night this area is not very safe. The double bed in the room was made of two single beds put together. It was hot but there was no A/C. They only provided an electric fan.The bathroom was dark and not really convenient. The decoration was poor and not inviting at all. Breakfast was so so although they provided a large buffet.

Convenient location, but rund down 80's style

Convenienty located 5 minutes walking from main train station

Although they claim to have renovated the rooms, it looks all cheap and run down, not worth the money. Not more than 2 star. Rooms are tiny small and very badly maintained.

Good location

near railway station

Unfriendly, unkind receptionist. Near railway-station. It is not good value for money. During the night it was very noisy outside the hotel.

Great location, value for money

Location is great, near to the main station and walking distance to lake geneva, lots of supermarket and cafes around.

The hotel staff is very flexible. I arived early morning and she let me check in the room at 9am!, which i think is not usual. Room space are reasonable, in the area tht is lively and also near to the Tourist Information Center. Breakfast spread although not large, but good and enough to satisfy morning hunger.

Shabby but not without pros

Location, breakfast, price
7.3
The hotel is rather disappointing really, especially for a price that would get you solid 4 stars elsewhere in Europe. It has the tiniest rooms I've ever seen, and everything is so OLD! It's all shabby and there's that drop-dead stench of oldness and dust — arghh... So don't expect much for a hefty amount you'll pay. Still, pricewise it's one of the most economical stays. I wouldn't touch the minibar: 200ml still water at 5 euros a bottle is beyond my understanding... The good: the staff is professional and friendly indeed; great location next to Cornavin transport hub (although noisy at night); excellent breakfast in the co-owned cafe on the ground floor.
Hotel Feature Tip: Don't forget to ask for your free ticket to all of Geneva's transport system. There a very decent Indian restaurant Bombay right next door.

the staff are very friendly. the room was well-kept and quite clean. the bathroom was nicer than the room. the breakfast was good. i stay here the second time now.
Nightlife Tip: The hotel is in the pâquai area, plenty of restos and bars. Very close to the lake.

Nice hotel in a great location

Location is unbeatable

very nice and clean hotel. the room is rather small, but very good considering the location.
Nightlife Tip: the hotel is in the paquis area which is an entertainment section (think a red light feel). but there are many restos and bars to choose from. very convenient.

So so at the Capitole Hotel

Capitole's location is convenient to the Geneva train station. Rooms are clean but small.
5.3
The main appeal of Capitole is its proximity to the main Geneva train station. Neighborhood is lively but a bit dodgy--hookers--though safe. Staff impersonal but efficient. My room was small, bed OK but not great, and cleanliness was average to good. Breakfast buffet mediocre by Geneva hotel standards. Probably won't stay again, as value just isn't there, even by Geneva's costly standards.
Restaurant Tip: Avoid the nearby Mexican restaurant--food unlike anything I've experienced in Mexico or in Mexican restaurants in California and high-priced.

Good experience at the Capitole

Room spotlessly clean and nicely done - super bathroom; Staff pleasant and helpful; breakfast very good; very convenient for station & transport links.

The hotel is situated close to the station and the tourist info office. It is walking distance from the lake. There are numerous small restaurants and bars in the vicinity - so no difficulty finding food and drinks at sensible prices. Lots of Moroccan and Lebanese food places. Although on the edge of the red light district the hotel was surprisingly quiet at night. Would certainly go there again.
Restaurant Tip: Moroccan restaurant just round the corner looks unprepossessing but served excellent freshly prepared food (very limited menu - good sign)at reasonable prices.
