Best Value Hotel

Customer Service, Proximity to Transmilenio, Safe
Read my prior review of another recent stay for more details about rooms, location, etc. We chose to return to this hotel after our trip to Cartagena, since we wanted to be closer to the airport, but still close enough to the downtown area our last 2 days in Colombia. Since it was nearing the end of our trip, we had very little pesos left, and relied more on our credit card. For our last dinner, we chose a restaurant we'd eaten at before adjacent to the hotel. Turns out though that it did not take credit card. My husband went back to the room to get our bank card. He talked to the older lady who manages the front desk at night, and she arranged for us to put the restaurant bill on her hotel tab. This was such a relief to us, since we didn't want to go searching for an atm late at night. Sometimes when traveling, you have to rely on the kindness of others. The staff at Casa Hotel Boyaca Real have always been eager to help us with anything, but this was going way beyond the call of duty. Thank you very much. I highly recommend this hotel. You'll be in a safe area within 2 minutes walk of the Transmilenio station to La Candelaria. But most importantly, you'll get to experience some true Colombian hospitality.

Basic Hotel with Wonderful Customer Service

Safe, immediate to Transmilenio, and Incredible Staff
Location- Not in the most glamorous area, but it is safe and immediate to public transportation. There are multiple eating options nearby. Value- Unquestionably great value. Staff- Uncomplainingly helpful at every turn. Very little English, but not a problem with google translate Room- Stark but clean and with enough space. Wifi in room was decent. I don't remember problems with streaming video. Room felt a little cold and water took a long time to heat up and I don't know if it ever does heat up to hot. However, I have very little tolerance to cold. Breakfast was limited but made to order and of the same variety every day: some bread with eggs made to order and fruit accompanied by fresh squeezed juice and delicious coffee. Hot chocolate also available. I should mention that this hotel does charge the VAT. It was a good stay and if you are happy with the basics, do not hesitate to book this hotel. I would stay here again. It saved me 10-20min on the transmilenio depending on what bus I managed to catch (compared to staying in zona t farther up north). Zona T with Zona Rosa and Parque 93 and the Teusoquillo area are the only places I would consider are safe enough and yet still close to the Transmilenio line that I would stay at. In the La Candelaria area, I would recommend staying on the main streets: Jimenez and carrera septima.
