It is situated just two blocks from David Jones and 15 minutes from Circular Quay with easy access to public transportation and a variety of commercial venues. The dining room, Cello’s, has been restored in exact detail to its original 1920s decor. The restaurant serves the finest cuisine available in an atmosphere that is reminiscent of a time past. The function facilities are ideally suited for business conferences as well as weddings. The Castlereagh Boutique Hotel is the ultimate location of seclusion, like being in a time of old, yet still situated close to the hustle of modern city life.

A boutique hotel you can stay

Location, clean, cosy
a smooth experience, location easy to find, staff friendly, room though a little bit small but comfortable.

The European feel, the windows that open, the quaint boutique decor
We booked this hotel at 9pm after a very long day: 43 degree heat in November and a delayed flight to the next morning. We found a great rate on Agoda, which became even better when we checked in and saw how nice the room is. Louis at the front desk was lovely, and the lobby is beautiful -- it reminded us of some European hotels as well as the Excelsior in New York. The room was small, but with a nice big window and cosy furnishings. The Castlereagh has thankfully not fallen victim to the contemporary hotel design hive-mind (we especially appreciated the wooden headboard and the impressionist streetscape artwork). We also liked that the window opened as there was a beautiful breeze coming in after a very hot day (though, mind you, the hotel's a/c is in perfect working order). Overall, a lovely, historical, European hotel in a central location.

Location was perfect!

Location, Cleanliness, Food
The best thing about this hotel is the location and the price. It is surrounded by great food, entertainment and endless shopping opportunities. The hotel room itself is very small and out-dated. You feel boxed it and the decor is old and worn. The hotel lobby is lovely and a little deceiving. The staff are unhelpful and rude and you get the impression that they do not care about their jobs nor the guests. I would stay here again based solely on the location and the buffet breakfast. Although if you're looking to chill out in your room, this is not the luxury hotel for you.

the good and the bad

Staff, location, staff
I had a room that could have been next to the engine room in the Queen Mary. The constant noise was dreadful throughout the whole room, didn't cease throughout the night...I had asked for a quiet room?????
