A great find

location, staff, breakfast provided
I will return here when I am able to return to Iceland during a summer season. The location was excellent, the staff were great, there was a good variety for breakfast. I had a corner room above the reception that had many windows and a great view.

Just standard. Nothing fancy.

You know those hotels that charge you for EVERYTHING? Well this is it! To be fair, the hotel is really cheap, compared to others around the center of the city. But I don't know why do they have to charge for every single bit. I have lived in the region before, and usually they're open for stuff if it is possible, but this one no. They'd charge you for early check in, late check out, or even to bring your breakfast out (it's just bread cheese and ham anyway). They do understand that most of their international clients fly out early morning or late night (to the States or Continental Europe), and the best thing they could do is help around this. The rooms are tiny, and not so well kept. Nothing on TV and sometimes the internet does not work. But you can't beat the location.

Klopped Out

Room was large enough but the towels were hand towels and in bad shape. The sink lacked a plug and when I asked for one nothing was done. Room was too dark to read partly because I was put in a room at street level that required that I close the cutains at all time for privacy. The only good thing to be said is that its location is quite good.

CenterHotel Klöpp in Reykjavik

Location near main shopping district and walkable to virtually anything you'd want to do in Reykjavik. Modern, if small, rooms. Friendly and helpful staff.
No one was at the front desk when I checked in and there weren't instructions on how to summon someone, but I fortunately picked up the phone and it rang through to someone. Thankfully, that was the only bad thing about my experience really. The staff was extremely helpful when one of my tour companies forgot me. The room was very clean, if small, but the bed and pillows were quite worn out and didn't provide as much back support as I would have liked. The curtains did a great job of shielding the room from the 24-hour daylight. I would definitely consider staying here again as it was one of the cheapest full-service hotels I found in the city. The free brunch was worth what it cost.

Excellent hotel in centre of Reykjavik

Really clean, good breakfast (esp Icelandic Rye Bread). Great Location. Friendly staff.
Really excellent place to stay, we were very impressed with the hotel in terms of its location and the quality of the rooms etc. Breakfast was very good, lots of free coffee throughout the day and easy to get around from and to. Recommended.
Restaurant Tip: Try the famous hotdog stand near the Opera House. Very icelandic. -- also the traditional Icelandic fish restaurant near the Althingi makes amazing Halibut!

Great Staff. Great Hotel. PERFECT location

Central location. Wonderful staff Full breakfast Comfortable rooms.
The service at the hotel is excellent. We dealt with 3 different people while we were at the Centerhotel Klopp and each of them was very knowledgeable of the area, how to do different things and even how we might save some money. We originally went to Iceland to try to see the Northern Lights, but it was cloudy the nights we were there--the staff at Centerhotel Klopp were really our keys to having a great trip when the weather squashed our initial plans.
Nightlife Tip: The night life in Reykjavik is insane and can get very expensive. The way most locals get around paying so much for alcohol is by pre-drinking at their homes (or hotels, for a non-local). It certainly makes the

Nice place overall

Nice place, good location, very helpful staff
This is a pretty nice place in a good location just east of the city centre. The staff are friendly and helpful. The cons are poor tv reception (you only get BBC Wales and CNN International), a very slow internet connection and soft mattresses that offer little support.
Restaurant Tip: Tiu Droppar is a good place for breakfast less than a block and a half away.

Center Hotel Klopp

good location
We arrived to the hotel one day later than anticipated (the original booking was for 3 days but stayed 2) because our plane had mechanical problems and could not leave Oslo, Norway until the next day for our destination in Island. Upon arrival we heard from the administration that they had double booked and offered to send us to another hotel owned by the same owner. We went to the other hotel and after a number of attempts got to talk to the owner that lacked tact and diplomacy that would be expected in cases like this. My point was simple, if they had double booked it meant that they charged for the same room to two different parties. We had payed for the three days and only stayed two and on top of it not at the hotel we had booked, so I was asking for a reimbursement of the first night. The owners' response was unsatisfactory, we were not happy customers and would not book in any of the hotels she owns again.
