Stayed 1 night. Good hotel to rest in after a long flight. The hotel was in a dodgy neighbourhood but the security seemed to be on their toes as you could see them walking around the hotel at all hours.
The best western in Irazu was more upmarket as we ahd to pass it but this place was smaller and very relaxing. The beds were comfortable. The rooms were abit worn but everything worked perfectly eg the hot water shower.
Reception staff were extremely efficient.
Excellent swift service. Friendly staff both in the Hotel and Breakfast room. Shuttle service very good to and from hotel. Good security 24 hrs.
Area around hotel not so safe but this is complimented by good security.
No restaurant service late in evening.
rooms slightly worn.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Easy to get to the town centre. The taxi charged two dollars for two of us to get to the bus terminal for our onward journey.
Great property and service in a bad area of town

Overall this property is very nice, good breakfast, clean and comfortable rooms, good wi-fi and nice and attentive staff. The location is in a bad part of town....ok to walk during the day.
Great rooms, nice breakfast and facilites with nice and helpful staff with great wifi in the lobby area.
Bad location in San Jose but generally ok during the day to walk...without anything of value showing.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : Great hotel and amenities. During the day a nice 15 minute walk to the avenida central with lots of shops and restaurants.

Airport transportation & breakfast, included which is definately a plus. Room safe & swimming pool are good ammenities. Internet is available in the lobby. Parking is within secure gated area. The area around this Hotel is close to the central market house and also the downtown pedestrian areas, which contain many Tico stores & internation / national restaurants. The neighborhood close to the hotel does have some "squalor". We have stayed here several times & walked into the main part of San Jose w/o incident. However, it is good to walk w/a sense of purpose. Hotel always has security on duty and I have never seen them napping.
This hotel puts you into the middle of it all / San Jose. It is truly an oasis, with a swimming pool, amongst a city that is beautiful but at times "close to the edge".
Room safe is a plus, as is secure parking.
Be certain to know which directions you may be headed if walking. Transportation is available.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : This is an excellent base to begin your trip to Costa Rica and become acclimated. If driving, from the airport, the streets can be confusing, because of the one ways & the odd / evens of street #'s being on opposite sides of the city. Also river gorges & bridges, including neighborhoods can be confusing. Best Western does have some signage directing you from the airport & through the city which is helpful. Their large sign is also a beacon.
Costa Rica & San Jose have a lot to be appreciated. Ask questions & readup before venturing out for safety. Once among the strolling visitors & Ticos, enjoy enjoy enjoy!

The receptionists at the hotel are very helpful and friendly. The service is great and so is the food from the cafe that the hotel has in the lobby. Although their is no wireless internet they do have three pc's with internet access in the lobby. Located right down the street from the Jade Museum and the strip of stores to shop at. If your interested in tours of the country you can book them through the hotel as well.

Overall this hotel including amenities and services is excellent. The staff is generally welcoming and the beds and rooms very clean and comfortable, all to international standards. The only negative is the location of this hotel in a very bad part of town, which we were told is considered a ´red zone´, filled with of risks to tourists and travelers alike, in fact the hotel strongly adviced that other than morning and early afternoon, ´for one´s safety´to take a taxi. given the potential risk to their guests. It is a true shame, since this hotel is excellent otherwise. We truly enjoyed the hotel, using taxis to come and go.
The Hotel, including its published amenities, its staff and services are excellent. The Room was clean, comfortable and the beds were nice and very welcoming. The breakfast was modest and prepared fresh and was also great.
The major weakness of this hotel is its location...it is located in the ´red zone´in San Jose, Costa Rica...which makes it less ´safe´to walk ´to and fro´this hotel, specially at night or even late afternoon and requires one to take a taxi at those times. It is a shame that the city has not cleaned up this area, since otherwise this hotel is excellent.
- Sightseeing/Attractions Tip : By taxi and even risking walking during daytime this hotel is a few blocks away from many interesting local attractions, such as the national museum, the gold museum and the ´calle central´a walking street, filled with shops and restaurants.
