Once the palace of Jao Boon Oum, the last king of Lao, the structure was renovated into a hotel and retains its former charms. Located in the heart of Pakse District, a short way to the Sedone River and Wat Pra and the Lane Xang Bank, Champasak Palace Hotel is within walking distance of the Tourism Authority and Wat Pra Bat. The town center is a short ride away by local taxi. The hotel boasts beautiful colonial architecture, and the sweeping verandas give majestic views of the beautiful countryside. The rooms have charm and comfort, and a new wing has less expensive but simple rooms that provide a good base to explore Pakse. The restaurant serves good local and international food. Try Delta Coffee, a short walk from the Champasak Palace, which offers some of the best food in town. Nice old place

It is a vast palace that has been reconverted to hotel. Relatively far from the center of village. ~500 meters in this heat is a long way....Nothing special about this place, high ceilings. The experience was somewhat spoiled when I woke up in then middle of the night to find a cockroach staring at me in my pillow.

Good value for the miney

Size of room, super clean and old world charm
Beautiful old hotel! Super clean. Only stayed one night on a stopover. Good food and friendly staff.

Such a beautiful place, always feels special

location, style, room size
You can't visit here and not feel like it's something special. The history for the hotel is so special and for sure, there aren't many places like this in Laos. The price is very fair for what you get. It's a place with a lot of charm and charaacter. We love staying here everytime....if you can splurge, book the King Suite....wow.

just okay

just okay, receive airport hotel pick up no problem check in easy, but little English, rooms were big but very old, and worn out
Vasilica C. Families with young children Romania, December 22, 2014
quite ok

daytime staff extremely pleasant and helpful, particularly Mr Souk
Not a bad place for a night stopover on the way to / from 4000 islands. They should fix the water pressure at upper floors and improve the quality of the breakfast
Coralie L. Solo travelers Australia, December 4, 2014
Live like royalty!

Spacious rooms open onto wide marble verandahs with sweeping views across the river. Exudes oppulence from a bygone era!
Room was spotless, large and had good aircon. Comfy beds and very quiet. Views from the balcony were spectacular! Great buffet breakfast including east/ west options. Able to leave bags in storage for a few days. Staff very helpful. Hotel is a 10-15 minute walk into the centre of town but tuk tuks are plentiful and the stay is luxurious. Hotel and grounds are great to explore. Would definitely stay again!
Kok S. Solo travelers Malaysia, November 25, 2014
Only good thing - it WAS a Palace

the palace-like features, the vast area, the massage beside the hotle
1.Booked a king bed, but given 2 small beds (twin), they joined the beds the next day; 2.The windows of the room open to the walkway, so did not open the windows. All rooms are like that; 3.Have complimentary shuttle to the airport (only 15mins away; 4.Only 1 restaurant; did not use it except for the breakfast; 5.Not many eateries outside . nearby except for Lao Coffee; a Vietnamese noodle shop which were OK
Eric W. Business travelers United States of America, November 17, 2014
love staying at the Palace...

historical significance, design, location and views
We stay here often...It's a really lovely place with a throwback to the days of old and a time in aos not often seen....upgrade and get a better room...food is rotten, eat outside, prefer the Hotel Paris
Ataur R. Business travelers Bangladesh, November 16, 2014
