Awesome Backpacker

Location, price, cleanliness
Unfortunately didnt get to stay here as it was temporary closed for renovation. Was surprised and puzzled for a while upon arriivinh at the hostel. However, was diverted to Youth Shack down the road. Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. Check in was at ease. I rented a bath towel and it was worthy as clean and comfy. Crowd was cool. Impressed with the room condition; in yerms of hygiene, structure and facilities. The hostel provided free breakfast but didn’t get to try it. Perhaps could consider extending the breakfast hour. Would definitely stay here again if I make a return trip to Darwin.

great location

geat location, helpful staff and easy tour
Stay was good but I hate the shower. The water outlet is too high that water splatter away when you take shower. Very difficult to take bath.

Dirty, loud and not friendly
Public areas are quite dirty. Staff was very unhelpful. They do not know Darwin and seem not to care at all. They say 24 hour reception, but it is not true - you have to call night reception and wait for him to come over if you check out before 6 AM. It is right in the middle of backpacker street - so all night you are in the front row seats for all fights and drunk screams. Overall Darwin hotels and not good value for money - but this one is exceptionally bad, hostel across the street is much better.

Cheap, budget, basic

Central location
I had a private room with shared bathroom but the experience was very basic. This hostel is great if you want a no frills cheap as experience - you may as we'll go for a dorm room as the facilities shared for a private room are the same but you pay three times the price. If looking for a cheaper private room spend an extra 40 bucks and go for a travelodge or cheap motel instead. That said this hostel is in a brilliant location and the staff will help with airport transfers etc. plus, a good place to meet other travellers.

disappointing customer service

location,proximity to city centre
was disappointing to be kept waiting an hour or so to be checked in @ 1.30 Am and accosted by drunken passers by.finally got into bed at 3am.not good enough to have 1 night manager running 2 places imo.really poor customer service

Short Getaway to relax and unwind

It's cheap considering its a backpackers hostel. Also the location is perfect since it is centrally located within the city area.
It's a common backpackers hostel. Its location is perfect since all you needs is just a walk away. They provide free bread and hot tea/coffee for breakfast. Just a tip, bring your own utensils if you are staying here as this is a dorm style. You can do your cooking, laundry and they also have ref for storing your food for longer stay. The room I stay is good for 4 persons.

Just a so so experience.

friendly staff, central location, close to restaurant
This is quite a noisy hostel since many working holiday youngster are staying here for longer terms. The double deck bed is a bit too high. it is a bit difficult to climb up to the upper level as the gap of the stair case is quite big. That was smell in the room as well.

well located backpaker hostel in heart of darwin

th best things were the location and proximity to shops and supermarkets
i enjoyed my stay at chillis the staff were friendly and helpful.the rooms were clean and well designed for dorms. It was only a 2 minute walk to the Coles supermarket next door and restaurants in mitchell street all walking distance. The only fault i could find was the loud music blaring out all night every night but this was one of the quieter backpackers compared to the others.
