Bed of springs, noise, bright lights, drunks

Kitchenette ; the sheets were clean; the bathroom
Definitely NOT 4 star. Free WiFi advertised but it's ONLY FREE for 2 hours! Had a special request for a quiet room & 3 single beds. We got neither. Our room was very noisy. We did not have the means to go elsewhere for the second night so we found a pharmacy and bought ear plugs for everyone-didn't help! The main problem with noise is the location - opposite a 24 hr pie shop; very loud, drunken yahoos, bad language, cars, motor-bikes, ALL NIGHT. Making your way through them all & dirty cigarette smoke to get into the building at night was scary. Windows paper thin so it was like an all night party was happening in the same room you were trying to sleep. Next door is a Harley Davidson shop - so there were loud Harleys coming & going all night too. The window blinds didn't block out any of the outside night lights either, so the room was lit up ALL night. The extra bed was a tired worn out lounge with a pull out bed of old springs that collapsed to the floor when you sat on it or knelt on it to try & make up - couldn't get to one side because it was hard up against the air conditioning unit on the floor. The mattress was old & all of 2 inches thick at best. So even if the noise & lights were not keeping you awake, you had springs poking into you at every twist and turn. The main bedroom was so small you couldn't get past the bed to get to the only bathroom. Lots of kicked toes. The décor is also in need of help. The walls were dirty and marked. There were no wall hangings or any sort of decor. Our door looked like it had been attacked by an animal, given all the scratches and gouges on it. In the hallway a light was hanging out of socket, gaffa tape was used to repair broken bits & holes, and the carpet and furnishings were grotty & well passed their use-by date! Also there’s limited luggage storage, first in or miss out.

Location good. Room facilities to improve.

Location. Easy access to Tram & eateries. Good Wifi but limited hours.
My first stay at City Edge was pleasant, except the room intercom was malfunctioned. The maintenance officer told me that there's no intercom to front desk as the phone only connected to hotel entrance). I feel that it's necessary to have phone connection with front desk in case anything urgent to contact. The lights in room are not bright. Wifi provided was limited based on hours. My 4-night stay was given 24 hours of free Wifi (requires log in password to activate). However, if I forgot to log out from the hotel wifi website, the wifi hours will continues to run until finished. If only limited Wifi provided, the hotel should clarify on Agoda website "complimentary wifi (limited hours)". My 2nd stay at City Edge still facing the same intercom malfunction issue. The carpet floor was dirty (with dark brown color stains). Kitchenette facilities are good. Suitable for home cook. May stay again.

Relaxing stay with quiet surrounding

Well equipped room, accessible location and value for money
The room was well equipped with the facilities required for routine needs. Its location was easily accessible to many landmarks and tourist spots. However, the air conditioning unit in the room was not functioning well.

Good location in Melbourne CBD, Clean

Cleaniness, location, comfortable stay
Hotel is located in the middle of Melbourne CBD, which has a number shopping places & restaurants to dine in. Near the Melbourne tram & train station. Room is clean but a little small. Good for a quick stay to explore Melbourne CBD area.
