Value for money
The location
The place was near city centre. The staff was helpful especially Miss Sandy. I left my mobile when I left for Chiang Rai and they kept it until return back from CR.

A pleasure to stay
Sandy the lady who ran the guesthouse
Rooms are basic but sandy the charming lady who runs this guesthouse more than make up for it. Nothing is too much trouble and she was very helpful on organising trips and tuk tuks for going out

Not really a bed
It's cheap
The "bed" is just wooden planks with a sheet over it, extremely uncomfortable. I don't know why, but the closet stood in front of the window. There may also be little lizard and/or a lot of ants in your room. Wouldn't recommend it.

A wonderful little gem!
The service we received here was exceptional!
From the moment we arrived here we were greeted by a wonderful lady who looked after us so well. The place was clean, tidy and comfortable (apart from the bed which was quite hard) that being said we extended our stay here as we enjoyed the atmosphere so much. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to stay in Chiang Mai and the location was pretty good too.

Reasonable price but not worth the trek
Location is not so great, down a deserted street behind another hotel, and quite a walk (20 mins) from the edge of the old town. Far from the walking streets, though close to the (not very interesting) night bazaar. Rooms were not the cleanest, and the floor was covered in paper which got caught under the door every time we opened it. As mentioned, the bed was very hard, but that didn't affect our sleep. Not for the squeamish if you're afraid of lizards. But, the price was right, though we saw cheaper options in the old town.

What a wonderful little gem!
Service was amazing, lovely people and really nice atmosphere.
We loved this place! The owner really went out of her way to make sure we were happy and greeted us very late (or rather very early in the morning) after our train was delayed. The rooms were a good size and fine but the bed was very hard! We actually ended up extending our stay here for longer than we intended and really enjoyed our stay.

Great location and quiet.
Second time I've stayed at the City Guest House. It's a little run down and for some reason they never clean the rooms or resupply for with necessitates/towels unless you ask. It's kind of a strange place, but I'm into the price so go figure...

Not good enough
Not good enough
The price seems cheap on Agoda, but in Chiangmai, it's very easy to find a guest house on this level of cost. This GH is old and not well-maintained. Location is not good enough, near night bazaar, but a little far from old city. And it's not easy to find restaurant in the walking distance. But the staff is friendly. I think it's not hard to find a better GH in Chiangmai.

Avoid at all cost
this is the most uncomfortable hostel i've ever stayed in. wasn't expecting much considering the cheap rate but there is no excuse for the horrible hard bed in the room. beds are generally hard all around thailand but this was by far the worst.
