Within a short walk is the lovely Sule Pagoda which is best visited in the morning since it tends to heat up in the afternoon as the bright sunlight reflects off all the shiny brass and gold. The spectacular Bogyoke Market is a great place to visit, and there are several lovely coffee shops nearby for a relaxing iced coffee. The hotel has a few restaurants that serve Suki, Chinese, and European fare and do so with style. Similarly the rooms are all decorated with traditional teak wood, although somewhat simply decorated. There is a business center and it offers Internet access, but this can be kind of tricky in Yangon and Myanmar in general.

Great stay overall

Had a great stay at City Star. Staff very accommodating especially the lady receptionist; speaks good English, too. Room was large and comfortable. Good wifi speed. Near Sule Pagoda, City Hall, Bugyoke Market, etc. Toiletries provided. Buffet breakfast has a lot of options. Small glitch is that the toilet seat in our room is slightly misaligned with the toilet bowl. Availed a Yangon tour with them. Taxi driver Tun Win Thein very nice and accommodating. Will definitely stay here if in Yangon again.

Can't go wrong here except the normal services are expensive (laundry) or missing. Breakfast is poor but is normally is in Myanmar at this standard of hotel. I just want ripe fruit :) It is a great place and the staff are helpful. You'll be happy and couldn't be better located to enjoy Yangon.

The hotel is near Sule Pagoda, that's a plus. Breakfast is OK. Everything works fine. Except I can't use the phone to call other room. I call room service and nobody answer the phone so I have to call the reception instead. Would give score 7/10.

We enjoyed our time at the City Star. The location is fantastic, right in the centre of downtown near Sule Pagoda, which is very handy. The room was spacious and clean and the staff were friendly and helpful. We are staying here again when we return to Yangon.
