Top areas in Agadir
This beach resort on the southern coast of Morocco has enjoyed a steadily increasing influx of tourists since the early 1980s. The main entry point to the city is Agadir Airport, which has direct connections to most major cities within Morocco, and a handful of direct flights to the continent. From here, it's a quick taxi ride to hotels in Agadir city center and on Agadir beach.
Aside from the obvious attraction of the waterfront, Agadir is famous for the beautiful Anti Atlas Mountains that lie behind the city, and many visitors divide their time between the beach and the hills. It is the Anti Atlas Mountains that separate the south coast of Morocco from the expanse of the Sahara Desert to the east. Travelers will find the mountains themselves spectacularly beautiful, while the ancient villages and communities found throughout them offer a glimpse of old Morocco. Visitors are always welcomed in these parts, and those who make an effort to get off the beaten track will be rewarded. Although most visitors choose an Agadir beach hotel there's plenty of accommodation in the mountains and surrounding countryside.
For those content to just relax by the sea, the city offers easy access to many wonderful beaches. To the north of the city the beaches get prettier and prettier, and some travelers rent a motorbike or scooter to explore the coast. Many Agadir beach resorts offer a full range of water activities such as snorkeling, diving, and sea-kayaking.
Agadir has everything travelers could want from a destination. The beaches are lovely, the food is delicious and inexpensive, and Agadir hotels and resorts are equal to those found in the more popular resort areas in the Mediterranean.
