  1. More about Albury

The Murray River borders the states of New South Wales and Victoria, and upon this river is the city of Albury. Albury sits on the New South Wales side of the river, and its twin city of Wodonga straddles the Victorian bank. The area was a popular river crossing with the indigenous tribes and the first European settlers. Several airlines have flights to Albury Airport, and direct roads lead from Sydney and Melbourne.

Albury can be an excellent rest stop for those driving between Melbourne and Sydney. It also serves as a gateway to Beechworth’s gourmet area and the mountain town of Bright. The Rutherglen winery area is also conveniently accessible from here. Within Albury, one of the proudest attractions would be the Albury Library Museum that houses a museum, gallery exhibition spaces, and a library. There are several beautiful parks in the area and especially along the river, including the Albury Botanic Gardens, Oddies Creek Park, and Moreuil Park. At the Nail Can Hill Reserve, there are walking trails that can provide some leisurely recreation, and it is possible to cycle along Lake Hume. This city is also the shopping mecca of the region and has everything from retail outlets to markets and arcades.
