Located in the Southern Sierras in the Sacred Valley of the Incas, Cuzco is an extremely important historical city in Peru and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Most of the regional airlines have regularly scheduled flights to Alejandro Velasco Astete International Airport, so getting into Cuzco isn’t hard for international travelers.

Cuzco is one of the most visited cities in Peru, and it’s home to many landmarks and important sites that should not be missed by all experienced travelers. The city is surrounded by many impressive ruins from the time of the Incas, while some buildings from the Spanish colonization are built right on top of some of these ruins and today offer a physical representation of this country’s long history. One example of this Spanish superimposition on the ancient history of the Incas can be seen while visiting the Coricancha, which was original the Sun Temple. The Spanish conquistadors built a Christian church on top of the temple, and today visitors can see the remains of the temple beneath the church, certainly worth a few hours of exploration at the very least. The Plaza de Armas in the historic center is a great place to walk around and experience the current scene of Cuzco mingling with that of the past, while the Inca walls of the city are located right nearby.

The historic wealth of this city is really one that must be experienced firsthand, as there are cultural and architectural wonders at almost every corner. br>
