Top areas in Geneva

Though not the capital, nor the largest city in Switzerland, many important international organizations are based in Geneva, giving this small city one of the most culturally diverse populations in Europe. Geneva is home to one of the most diverse arts and entertainment scenes in the world, and because many people with influence often find themselves in Geneva, this city is certainly an exciting place to be if only for a few days.

The city is served by Geneva International Airport, which connects the city to much of the rest of the world, often receiving many heads of state. There are many hotels near the airport, usually up-market in prices though budget options are just as easy to find.

Most of Geneva’s major attractions are very easy to reach, as they’re all somewhat concentrated in the city center. The biggest attraction is, of course, the Cathedrale de St Pierre, which is the result of an excavation that revealed a church that dates back to the 5th century. The church is within easy reach of the Jet d’Eau Fountain, a very powerful display of water that attracts many visitors to the site.

There’s plenty of entertainment in Geneva, especially considering that the city is often host to several visitors at a time. One popular area for entertainment is the mostly working-class area of Le Paquis, well-known for its bohemian cafes and nightclubs among several bars and venues for performing arts. On the other hand, those seeking exclusive treatment and don’t mind spending the money can find all the glitz and glamour around the Lake District.

There’s a lot more to see and do in Geneva, and the best way to discover what else this city has to offer in terms of attractions, landmarks, and hotels is by exploring the interactive map on this page.
