Helsinki is Finland’s capital, located in the south of the country. It’s Finland’s largest city and sports cultural influences from both Eastern and Western Europe. Helsinki is served by Helsinki-Vataa Airport in the neighboring town of Vataa, around 20 kilometers from the capital. Hotels near Helsinki airport are only about 20 minutes’ drive from Helsinki’s downtown area and are perfectly convenient for accessing the inner city.
Helsinki has a vast array of both classical and contemporary museums. Amongst these are the Museum of Art and Design and the Sinebrychoff Art Museumm, both located in the city center only a block apart. These picturesque islets offer a glimpse of some traditional Finnish customs and are home to a diverse range of flora and fauna.
Nightlife in Helsinki is both exciting and expensive. Uudenmaankatu and Eerikinkatu are the city’s main party areas, packed with bars, clubs and restaurants that stay open well into the capital’s chilly evenings.
