  1. More about Robertson

Stretching from Cape Town to Port Elizabeth in South Africa is Route 62, a historical route which connected small farming villages with major harbor towns. Highways have since replaced the need for these routes, and so today it has become a major tourist trail. Within the heart of Route 62 is the town of Robertson, renowned for its vineyards, orchards, thoroughbred horses, and stark beauty. Cape Town International Airport is the closes gateway to the area and is set 154km to the east.

The Robertson Wine Route is recognized as the largest wine producing region under irrigation in the Cape. In between the vineyards are an abundance of orchards that blossom in the spring and are filled with fruit by summer. There are more than enough wine estates to visit, meaning opportunities for wine tasting, fine dining, and taking in exquisite views. The Farmer’s Market also makes for an excellent stop as you’ll be picking up freshly picked produce that was grown not too far away. When the wine starts to get to the head, olive oil tasting is also another flavor to be tried. When not visiting the farms, nearby nature reserves offer hiking and 4x4 trails. There is also the Robertson Museum providing a cultural experience.

The nature reserves are also near some of the accommodation provided by Robertson. There are also homestays, guesthouses, and hotels within the town. Find the most suitable accommodation for you by clicking on our interactive map and exploring Robertson for hotels and must-see destinations.
