The Downfall of the Coach House

View, fireplace, location
Had to evacuate room 39 because bees made their hive in the chimney. Room service did not refresh coffee station. Black mould on tile grouting in shower. Toilet did not flush. Waiter not conversant with menu items. General condition of buildings was dilapidated (paintwork, rotting woodwork, leaking hosepipes, gutters broken and choked with leaves, swimming pool needs renovation, etc, etc)

The old style bar was nice. The gardens was neat. The view was alright
The stay was one of our worst hotel experiences. The staff was completely incompetent. The hotel was rundown, completely outdated and needed a renovation 15 years ago. The bathrooms was in terrible state, dirty, brown water and gross. There was also no heating facilities and the room was freezing with only one blanket available. The hotel certainly was not a four star hotel, rather a two star. The food was terrible, from a tuna salad made with tinned tuna and mayonaise, a rump that was so bad that we were glad the portion was 150g instead of the claimed 250g portion. Breakfast was advertised as a buffet but the hot breakfast meals was not available as a buffet. The soft poached eggs that I ordered was so overcooked that I did not even what to have a bite. There was also no salmon/trout available (despite of the many trout farms in the area). The waiters stuggled to even speak english and no management was insight.

luxurious but needs maintenance

beautiful surroundings and view, friendly staff, large comfortable room
The room was very luxurious, but everything seemed to be old and not maintained in the last years. The staff was friendly and helpful.

Like the curate's egg - good in parts - most parts

Setting - a beautiful destination; food - excellent cuisine; good prognosis with hard work and energetic marketing.
This is what I wrote to the manager: Largely a lovely stay and experience: intrinsically a most beautiful destination. Service at dinner was very slow at first, but food was excellent. A little disappointing that lawns weren't mown by a Friday pm, pool area and pool itself untidy - far wall of pool slimy. Worrying that such small attendance at the beginning of beautiful Spring in the area, but fully appreciate that this is the hurdle that you have to overcome. Best wishes in your efforts.

Horrible Hotel in South Africa

3. Beim Check Out schlussendlich kam der Höhenpunkt.
