About Coffee Atelier

Description

Situated right in the center of the UNESCO World Heritage city of Georgetown, Coffee Atelier is a collection of 5 beautifully-restored shophouses dating back to 1927. In 2010, the building underwent a soft renovation, conserving as much as possible of the old building substance.

Coffee Atelier features a mix of 6 spacious suites appointed with all modern amenities , 55 Cafe & Restaurant, the Gehrig Art Gallery and its own Kopi coffee museum.

Most major tourist attractions are within walking distance. It is a 2-minute walk to bustling Chulia Street, a 10-minute walk to the Blue Mansion and Khoo Khongsi. Coffee Atelier is a 15-minute drive from Gurney Drive and a 30-minute drive from Penang International Airport.

Fitted with either tiled or wooden flooring, the approximate 500sqft air-conditioned suites feature a spacious bed room (or two in the case of the first floor suites) and a private bathroom. A flat-screen TV with a DVD player, tea/coffee making facilities and a mini fridge are included. Housekeeping is provided.

Nice place, spacious rooms
Nice place to stay, good location, groundfloor room with dressing room and spacious bathroom. No daylight but the rooms were so big you didn't notice. Nice breakfast too. We didn't hear the hostel as some of the reviewers did. You might hear it when you have a first floor room as the window is on the opposite side. But, even on the street we didn't think it was very noisy (you book a hotel in city centre or you don't...)

ืnice staff, good location, back to old day
i love my 2 days 2 night staying here even alone. I feel exited with the city and had fun activities. The good part is our hotel locate nearby the center so just with your renting bike you can go around. Staff are very friendly. Anyway they should have given me an emergency call if any happen because they close front at 9pm. It made me feel a little worried. Something that bother me most is the living room in front of my room on ground floor is nice old style decorated but dark and made me scary a bit. When i opened the main entrance, i had to hurry rushed into the room. And the room on the second floor can cause an annoying from guest walking upstairs, draging their luggage etc. Apart from that, i feel happy.

Return guests still impressed
Our third visit was like coming home. The staff who had made us so welcome on other visits were there to greet us warmly and we were to stay in the same downstairs room we had enjoyed before. The owner Stephan was also there to welcome us with a drink and later in our stay was able to recommend an excellent Malaysian Chinese restaurant Teksen a short stroll away. Breakfasts remain of high standard, fresh fruit, muesli, yoghurt, choice of eggs and their coffee excellent. With the Old Town right outside our door we spent our days walking the streets of our neighbourhood exploring and revisiting the places we had enjoyed before. If you enjoy a good flat white and fresh-baked goods Mugshot is just around the corner. Must comment again on the professionalism of the staff who take such good care of their guests.

Great Boutique Hotel
A warmth welcome from the staff, showed us the facilities of the suite. A well furnished and cozy room. The room is so big like can accommodate 6 adult in a time, but you must bring your mattress. Hahaha! However we find the staircase is a bit dark for elderly, as my mum missed her step twice, luckily no felt during the stay. Overall, we like it very much!

Great staff, clean rooms
Staff are very helpful and will give you tips on local sights and services. Rooms are very clean and made up daily. You have your own toilet and shower and ground floor rooms have their own courtyard (no smoking in rooms so handy for smokers)

Great all around
A nice little boutique hotel with nice staff! The room was as described, I wasn't expecting the big backyard/bathroom so it was a nice surprise. Breakfast was quite filling in the morning. Great experience all around!
