Hotel name confused with another Copthorne Gatwick

Very reasonable room price Good wifi connection in the rooms
Very poor evening meal. My battered cod fish was nearly all batter and the mushy peas accompaniment looked as though it had been painted on underneath the fish! Chips all neatly the same size but some almost raw. Didn't risk breakfast consequently. My husband's lamb meal was nice however. Hotel very difficult to find. We first went to the Copthorne, not the Copthorne Effingham as both were Gatwick hotels.

Average and tired

Hotel was average and very tired. Breakfast was ok. Staff were ok but not overly helpful as I would expect from a 4 star hotel. Place could do with some money spending on it.

I used it stay here a lot a few years back. It has gone down hill massively since then. Service was very poor and the room are in need of a massive overhaul. There are far better options in the area than this.

Avoid if possible

Decent venue for corporate events or parties
Hotel was a let down for a number of reasons, main ones: 1. No AC in any rooms 2. We upgraded to a club room for a bigger bed but the fridge didnt work and no one bothered to fix it 3. Our room was close to the venue where parties held so very loud thumping noise until the early hours 4. Bar food for children was disgusting - spag bol was full of clumps of meat with no taste. Chicken was burned to a crisp. was offerd free drinks vouchers that never arrived 5. Swimming pool closed If possible I would avoid unless going there for a party or corporate event when you have no choice. Breakfast was ok - except porridge

golf hotel with large comfortable rooms

golf course
We were travelling from Gatwick the next day and wanted soemewhere nearby to have a nice family dinner on our last night in the UK. The Sports Bar didnt offer much opportunity to sit outside - which was a shame seeing it was a perfect sumer evening and the golf course makes for attractive surroundings. We ended up in the restaurant. Food was good. But the decor a bit dull. The boys played golf till 10pm and loved that. The swimming pool was closed for maintenance. Teh rooms wer egood, the staff were very helpful and efficient. Taxi to teh airport the next day was 11 pounds - 10 minute drive. Big old country hotel. Fu for 1 night but I woudldnt stay there again. Not enough interest.

It's a lovely hotel.

The Golf course
The furniture in the bedrooms is old and outdated. The pool was out of order, and that was very disappointing.Whenever you tried to contact the reception, there are never someone to answer your calls. The manager of the hotel is extremely effetient, friendly and helpfull.

Convenient location; helpful staff

This is a pleasant hotel which suited our needs of an overnight stay with an early morning departure. Comfortable rooms and helpful staff at the front desk. The 9 hole golf course is good for practising your short game. The dinner we ate in the restaurant was good but the environment is uninspiring.
