Stay in Newcastle, while visiting Family

Location, bed
Actually held our wedding reception at this hotel back in 1991, just after hotel opened. At this time hotel was one of best in Newcastle. However appears to be resting on it's previous laurels! Hotel in dire need of full refurb. - Foyer looked cluttered and uninviting - Bar are for a 'four star' hotel again very sparse and not what expect in a top hotel. - Toilet in bedroom did not look as if it had been upgraded since opening, as did much of hotel! - Had room service one evening for quickness and quality of food was very disappointing! - At breakfast on Sunday morning had to wait over five minutes for a table to be prepared (even though plenty were available). SEEMS TO BE A PROBLEM WITH NUMBER OF STAFF OR EFFICENCY OF STAFF. At one point noticed there was no fruit juice, no fried eggs no bacon... and I had to comment to Manager. - Overall experience was very disappointing and I will certainly not be returning.

Location. Location location
The hotel was ok for one night. Room was clean but tiles on floor in the loo wear broken. Toilet roll holder missing. Carpet worn slightly. I think it needs updating

Not 4 star but still very good

Location: 10 minutes walk to the train station, 15 minutes to the city centre and many bars / restaurants within 10/15 minutes

Overnight Stay for Party Night

The room sizes, the breakfast, and the staff
Comfortable, large bedrooms all facing the river, friendly staff, great breakfast, good parking - only slight downside noise from the Metro, but not enough to put me off staying again.

did not have a very good night sleep as you could hear trains from dawn to midnight and the bed was so uncomfortable

Great stay

Staff, Room, Cleanliness
An absolute pleasure! Good hotel, big and clean. Stayed on the 5th floor overlooking the Tyne in a nice suite. Staff were fantastic and personable. I would definitely stay there again if/when I return to Newcastle.

Perfect quayside location for a short break

Hotel designed so that most guest rooms have the stunning view over the river towards the Tyne Bridge. Friendly and helpful staff; very suitable for disabled travellers
This would definitely be my first choice of hotel in Newcastle again. Nothing is too much trouble for the friendly and efficient staff, and the location is fantastic - an easy stroll along the quayside for bars and restaurants, and that amazing view down the river from my room. A big tick, also, for genuinely welcoming travelers with disabilities - from the in-room info, it's clear that someone on the staff has really paid attention to best practice, such as mobility-friendly floor coverings and avoidance of unnecessary steps in the bar and restaurant. No road traffic on the river side of the hotel, so quiet in the evenings despite being steps away from plenty of drinking and dining spots.
