Comfortable good size chalet waterfront location

Isolated -absolute peace, friendly helpful staff, great food & best blended fruit juices
Had superb time-low season but water beautiful for snorkelling. Coral inshore disappointing but fish beautiful. Staff ultra friendly & extremely helpful. Environment relaxing - private beach not open to day trippers. Restaurant on beach romantic. Day trippers tend to take over other end of beach with parasailing, banana boat riding but after they leave it is a great place to get away from the rat race as there is nothing to do except relax and breathe in the sea air. Highly recommend it for release of stress!
Hotel Feature Tip: Coral Is resort have their own speedboat to transfer you over from Chalong Bay for 500 bht each way but difficult to organise with the resort. Anyone at Chalong pier can direct you to rep. but you can organise own transfer for cheaper price at the pier. Be prepared to not take too much as you have to walk through water and it is a bit of a struggle to get onto the back of the speedboat from 10inches of water! Staff will carry your bags on & off if necessary. AND the power goes off between 8.30-11.00ish & then 2.30pm-6.00pm every day to conserve energy but you can easily work around it once you've got used to it.

Individual little chalets. Salt water showers, etc

Very quiet when the day trippers leave.
Unfortunatly, it rained the whole 24 hours we were there! Restaurants, bars all openair...need mosquito repellent. Hotel speedboat transfers from Chalong was quite expensive but no alternative. I think this would have felt like a tropical paradise, had the rain stopped!
Travel tip: Take mosquito repellent!

Awful rooms, rude staff and hopeless food

They add a service charge to everything even if you go to the bar yourself, the room was riddled with ants there is no hot water and the water is infact salt water. The food is dreadful and the option of a buffet should be refused. To top it off the boat transfer cost is insane and you can go for less with another provider. Instead of 500 each about 250. There are far better places to stay for much less money and where service comes with a smile.

Well priced island accommodation with lovely beach

short boat ride away, nice beach, quiet afternoons
If you go to the Coral Island Resort without expectations, you won't be disappointed. If you are looking for clean, quiet, well priced accommodation with an "island" feel Coral Island Resort is a good bet. It has plenty of aquatic activities - nice swimming / snorkeling with some live coral further out and you can join in the day tripper crowds further along the beach and do para sailing / banana boats if you are into that. To be honest, it was a relief when the crowds and noise left the island around 3pm each day. leaving it calm and quiet. The staff in general and food in particular at this place are average - perhaps being low season, many menu items were not available. Room could do with a brush to sweep out sand but a minor when you have such a lovely beach so close. Electricity off 9.30 to 11.30 and 2.30 to 5pm - not a problem really, but shower plumbing was not the best - could not figure out how to get hot water at all!
Travel tip: Walk about 15 minutes along an easy track around coast to Banana Bay where you will find a quieter beach with reasonable restaurant. Pack laptop into waterproof bag for boarding return boat to Chalong - we had to walk 50 yards into breaking waves...

coral island - the island with absolutely no coral

The good thing about this island, is that you can get off it!
If you go to Coral Island for the day you can have lots of fun parasailing or being towed around on a buscuit, but I don't recommend staying overnight! The staff were pleasant and the towels/sheets were changed every day, but that's about as far as it goes for positives. On the negatives: The food was expensive and basicaly inedible. I've been in Thailand for two months and it was the worst meals I have had yet. The electricity is turned off from approx 8:30am-12:00pm and then again in the afternoon from 2:30pm-6:00pm. This means no use of computers, internet, airconditioning etc etc. I know most people aren't on an island to work, but I was. Not having the use of my laptop was frustrating! As I couldn't work, I decided to go snorkeling however there was nothing to see - No bright coral or fish. Deceptive considering the name of the island. I recommend for day visit only.

The only hotel on the island

Room was clean, staff was friendly, decent price
We stayed for one night, which is all you need on coral island. After snorkeling and kayaking and a little hiking, there's not much else to do. The beach is small but make sure to ask the staff how to get to Banana beach. It's a nice little hike to Banana beach wich is cleaner and less crowded. Overall our stay was pretty pleasant. The food is more expensive than other places in thailand since there's not much competition on the island.

Great tropical holiday location

Quiet, relaxed, friendly, fantastic service
My whole family, two parents, and three children had a fantastic relaxing stay. This resort offers a quiet and relaxed atmosphere, with great value for money. It is not an up market, high class location and is showing its' age. Regardless, for a cheap and easy week long stay without the intrusion of the world, this is a great spot. We are all keen on going back for another stay when we want to get away from it.

Good location and Pretty Nice Property

Location Not too expensive
Coral Island is a nice getaway very close to Phuket. The main beach is attractive and there is a second even nicer beach about 10 minutes walk on a good bush track just above the rocks to the south. The main beach does get crowded with daytrippers, but the area in front of the resort is for guests only and is okay. High tide does not leave a lot of sand and low tide exposes quite a bit, but swimmming is possible by wading out further. There are casuarina trees for beach-chair shade. My room was in a block of 4 with views thru the garden to the rather nice and never crowded pool. The room had everthing needed except a tv which was no loss to me. Standard was adequate without being flash. Buffet breakfasts were okay without being fantastic. Restaurant service was pretty good. It was possible to get not-too-expensive meals at other times but I ate at restaurants down the beach. One problem was that my two emails re transport from Phuket were not answered - fortunately I knew a motorcycle-taxi to Chalang pier would get me a transfer on one of the daytrip speedboats.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: The far northern end of the beach is quietest. Some locals have a restaurant-bar down there with reasonable prices for food and beer, plus plenty of old style beach chairs to relax.
