It was pleasant. We got the family room good for 6 and I was expecting 3 double beds just like what it said on the site but there were only 2 double beds plus a cushion bed that they provided on the floor. The room was clean enough though the bathroom needs improvement. Shower didn't have enough pressure and there were leaks. The family room is equipped with a mini ref and a stove which was a plus. If you're just after having a beachfront resort and staying away from the hustle and bustle, this is perfect for you. It's a 10-15 min walk from good restaurants and the main surfing area. Do note that the waves are really strong in this area and when we went there, even swimming was not allowed. I guess it depends on the season but we were told that the area in front of the resort isn't a good spot for surfing too as the waves don't curl nicely and the water suddenly becomes deep. There is also a pool but it is tiny. If you do have kids, it's a plus though. Staff is very friendly and helpful though stay away from their so-called greek restaurant. The receptionist told us that the one cooking was once a chef in one of the Shangri-la hotels so we were excited to try it. We ended up waiting for an hour for our food and it was bland. Not only that, it was pricey given that it was in a 2-star resort and didn't taste that good. The waitress kept apologizing while we waited and insisted that they want to make it fresh all the time. Well, you can't just let your customers wait for an hr forever even if you say the food is cooked upon order. Aside from that, they should improve the taste. it was really dry and salty. I suggest if they can't handle the preparation, then maybe another cuisine would be more suitable.

Worse trip ever

Aircon was cold, the mini store carried drinks and snacks, and they had star laterns

The stay was not the best experience. The room they put us in was all the way in the back by noise generator. The tv had only two channels barely working because the cable wire was spliced and there was no antenna. None of the pictures were clear. The exercise room was a joke. It look like they bought stuff from a used garage sale and there was not enough weights to do even a proper exercise. The shower was like warm water and if you change the dial for more hear it didn't work at all. The breakfast in the morning only had one selection choice longanissa, egg, and rice. They didn't have napkins or condiments like ketchup available. We ordered massages on two of our nights at Costa Villa and they were terrible and more expensive than Manila. We ordered a deep tissue massage and the girl was only doing light pressure and didn't use her thumbs to get certain knots out of my wife's back. After an hour they rushed out of the room. The second massage we ordered from another location, but was told by the management that we had to pay an additional 100 pesos for service fee because Costa Villa has an agreement with a massage business. We informed them they were terrible and we didn't want to use them again. There was no place to hang our wet surf clothes to dry outside. The wifi zone was outside with no tables to put your laptop or work stuff. It was in a bad location. No wifi in the room. The location of the establishment was a it far from the main area to surf. The beach area were Costa Villa taught surf lessons was on the dirty side of the beach and had lots of rocks. Overall experience was terrible and we will not stay at this establishment ever again.

It was ok except there's no food service early evening at 7:00 pm and the bathroom has broken showerhead.

Over-Rated

Location, Views, 24 Reception

The hotel charges 4 star prices for a 2 star hotel. First of all...the location of Costa Villa is amazing: 2 min walk to the ocean, 5 min walk to a nearby hostel, and 10-15 walk to nearby bars and restaurants. I also liked the fact that Costa Villa's reception office is 24hours, and you can buy things like beer, water, snacks, etc (though the staff late at night/early morning do not speak English). But the place is over-rated. For the price I paid...yes, my room was clean, comfortable (AC worked), and I had a few channels on TV. But I wasn't given any toilet paper. I wasn't given any soap or shampoo. And there's no way to call the reception office because there's no phone in the room. Minor inconveniences, I know. What I didn't like was this: 1) I didn't like being charged for items I didn't purchased. When I checked out, my bill had items on it I never asked for at 2 in the morning. I may have been greatly inebriated then, but not stupid. And 2) I really don't like that this place would not let my friend reschedule his reservation because of typhoon Lando. Seriously? It was too dangerous to drive down! And you won't let him rebook?? No way. That's more than just bad customer service. Overall, would I stay here again? Most likely yes. But after I looked around to find a better deal for my money.
