Great Place off the beaten path
Very nice and clean hotel. It was in a safe area but in terms of nightlife not very close to the action.

When we were about to check out the staff weren't helpful at all, the fact that they saw us with lot
When we were about to check out the staff weren't helpful at all, the fact that they saw us with lots of baggages going outside the elevator. The location is not convenient, you have to walk far to get to the main road. Their tuktuk free ride is only from 9am-6pm. Some staff are not friendly at all. You can see it from their facial reaction when you talk to them. I like that they do room service everyday, keeping our room clean and replace all the towels we've used. It's just that there's one day that they missed to give us complimentary water.

Too far
There's nothing very wrong with this hotel if you get it at a good price, but it's just about 100m too far from Sukhumvhit to be a good hotel. That is, you'll be walking from the BTS and you'll run out of patience about 100m before the hotel. Leaving the hotel there's a tuk tuk to the main road, but coming back there's nothing. And I don't say this as a fat, out of shape person who hates South East Asian weather. I live in Thailand and enjoy walking. But the next time I come to Bangkok I'll pay a touch more so that I don't have to make that long walk. If you want to be around the Terminal 21 area, it would be faster to stay at a hotel 4 BTS stops away and just jump on the BTS than to stay at this hotel.

excellent value, helpful staff, good but quiet location
Great room with mini kitchen, microwave and kettle, nice bathroom although pressure was a bit low. Helpful staff breakfast was ok for us, but basic but fine Location at the quiet and of soi 20 buy only 10 min slow walk to bts. Lots of bass and restaurants within a few minutes walk

Good value, pretty room, BTS far
After staying in a cheaper hotel I decided to pay a little more to stay here and I have to say when I walked into the room I was so impressed and relieved because the room was so pretty for a Thailand hotel (in this price range). The AC took a minute to kick in but it worked very well. The bathroom was contemporary but I think due to Thailands poor water system you could see a little bit of wear on the fixtures but it was still pretty and most important, CLEAN! The shower had low water pressure and the drainage was a little slow but that is very common in Thailand. The TV worked great and had many channels, even American movie channels (with Thai subtitles), also had channels in other languages. My room had a cute little balcony. There's a free tuk tuk to the BTS because it's like a 10-15 min. walk. It's located in a back alley but the streets leading to it have many different street food vendors, convenience stores, massage places, cafe's, and a few bars. Good value will stay again.

A Bit Smokey
I stay in "the Bally" at for at least 20 booking reservations a year. And have been doing so now for 8 years. I first stayed in this hotel in 2004. I have always enjoyed staying here because of the room rate, its location and the layout of the rooms. The superior rooms have a massive amount of cupboard space, ideal for the long term stays. It is close to restaurant and entertainment areas, the reception and porter staff are always friendly and most speak good English. However the room cleaning staff speak very little English. Breakfast menu is extremely limited, but there are many simple Thai restaurants in the area of soi 20 and soi 22. I have two issues with the hotel. One is the cleanliness of the shower cubicles and the sanitation of the drains in the bathroom. The second is the constant smell of cigarette smoke in most rooms. As all rooms supply ash trays, one can only assume that smoking in rooms is condoned. On occasions I have asked for a room change as my wife is affected by this. I would prefer to be able to book a Non-Smoking room but this cannot be assured. Wifi varies throughout the building from very good to dismal, defending on antenna location in the passage ways. But of the moment "the Bally" stays as my hotel of choice in central Sukhumvit.

Satisfactory with lots of room for improvement
Quite a distance from Asok / Phrom Phong BTS (around 1.1 walking distance from PP BTS according to google map), tuk tuk is available FOC for a certain time . Bathroom design is not ideal as there is only a curtain to separate the shower area (which is a bathtub) from the toilet. The floor around the bathtub will definitely get wet and slippery no matter how 'careful' you are when showering. And yes, you have to allocate one hand to hold the shower hose( refer to photo 30 in the gallery) if you are showering in standing position(who's not, right?) Toiletries provided is very limited and only 1 toothbrush is given for a room of 2 guests. The pool is small but cosy and the gym is a decent gym for a budget hotel. The Staffs are ok but only speak minimum English. In conclusion, you can definitely get a better one with the price you paid.
