enjoyed the holiday. worth the money spent. good sights to visit. shuttle service was good. staff were friendly. the beach was clean. the food was average but the restaurant staff very curteous. tour service was help and not very expensive. kucing has some good shopping areas. local food and the wine was good. the seafood was cheap and tasty.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: Don't miss the Orang Utan Sanctuary

Good for one day get away from the busy town life. Our stay have a few problems. 1. Breakfast restaurant a lot of House fly. (There is no house fly trap installed). 2. Fast lane check out no staff to entertain. Long Que during pick hours check out time. 3. Swimming pool Bath towel card book for a room of 4 people but only give 2 card. After complain to the manager on duty then only they give 4. Not following standard number of pax per room. 4. Baruk room (hill top) room standard for 4 people but only provide 2 bath towel in that room. 5. Floor mat miss out after previous occupant check out the housekeeping forgot to give a new bathroom floor mat. Did not have check list to follow. 6. Gym treadmill faulty. No more tread mill left. (only one unit). Message on the screen say "Please lube belt" appears and not operable. 7. Parking space limited. During peak seasons crowded car parks.
Nightlife Tip: Go buntal to eat seafood is a must try... Great fresh seafood.

This was a good hotel with very friendly, helpful staff. But too many people to check in ,so i wait so long.Breakfasts were lovely and rooms good. air-con too cold and very noisy so i can not sleep well. Very quiet area and good for family stay there.

We stayed a night at the Family Suite. The room is good, very spacious and a lot of space to move around, although the interior is a bit outdated. However, the beach is not as private as before as visitors to the Damai Central has access to the resort's beach which resulted in overcrowded. Besides that, there were so many flies at our breakfast table. And the "egg station" where they made the omelette, flies were everywhere and their work station is so dirty! The resort is in dire need of a facelift and to look into their cleanliness. Quite disappointed with the resort as I remembered from my last visit there years ago.

Pretty quiet resort but overpriced

Close to Sarawak cultural village! Easy transport to and from Kuching

our room was a good size and appeared clean, however there were small insects about. all the switches in the room were broken and there was no way we could control the air conditioning eg turn it up or down. at night when i went to put the lights out i couldn't do that either. had to call reception to come and do it ( men with screw drivers had to come unscrew the switch to turn it off!) the main lobby is nice and the main pool is also quiet chilled out and good for families. poolside service was slow but food was nice (again very pricey). the cliff top pool is amazing!! lovely views and very peaceful. the restaurants serve very standard food but again overpriced. if you don't like cats then def re consider because there were loads of cats everywhere!! and i mean lots! they were looking for food at the tables which may not be ideal. also veg food is limited, but that's a more widespread problem. they over charged us for late check out (until 6 instead of 3) so be careful with payements. on a plus note all staff are very polite and friendly .
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip: If u have student ID u get half price entry to the cultural village! Well worh the money!

Nice and quiet getaway

Watching the sunset.

The first friendly impression was from the driver, Rahman who pick us at the airport. He was helpful in telling us about the resort and Kuching City. Our only negative impression was the delay in clearing the plates after the room service thus attracting ants outside the room.
Hotel Feature Tip: For guest who prefers quiet ambience, the rooms up the hill is ideal but Guest should stock up snacks and beverages because the fridge is empty.

reception is friendly but not so efficient. checkout took a long time because only one computer working. main coffee house and breakfast is nice and pleasant with hardworking staff. breakfast spread was nice. service at the seafood restaurant was not so good. staff were inattentive and indifferent. concierge staff were helpful and efficient. housekeeping is adequate but not so thorough. bathroom bulb blew but bulb was not changed. had to shower in the dark on the final day.
Travel tip: Be prepared for long journey to and from resort. Shuttle service is not cheap but reliable.

this is my 3rd time go back to the hotel, location is great, staff are friendly, room is come with 2 double bed. as the hotel is running for more than 15 years and maybe can do some upgrade of the rooms.
Restaurant Tip: Can drive to Buntal, a small village, inside there have several seafood restaurant, Lim Foo Yuan is one of the seafood restaurant and food is delicious and cheap as well.

Lovely resort, especially during the week

beautiful beach with mountains in the background; great staff

really enjoyed the damai beach resort and especially their staff at the café who were extremely pleasant. the resort is quiet during the week. even when saturday arrived, and it filled up for the weekend, we had no problems getting beach towels or a seat at breakfast and service remained very friendly. the rooms were pleasant, the only drawback being that the floor was obviously not hovered nor swept, which made it a bit unclear to walk barefoot. tv channels selection is a bit limited so if you have a granny to keep busy, she may complain about that... food was good, and not too pricey for a resort. for those looking for a cheaper dining option, there s a mini food centre next to the resort-- did not try it though, so cannot comment on it. it is quite isolated: it takes 45-60 mn to get to kuching so don't stay too long if you are on a tight budget and reluctant to spend on transport/food.
