Would have preferred to stay elsewhere...
Honestly, I was a little bit disappointed by the hotel's overall performance and appearance when I arrived. The very good homepage implies that the hotel has to be of superior quality and maintenance in every aspect, but on arrival I realized that this, was unfortunately not the case. Although the rooms are neat and tidy, as soon as you take a closer look, nothing is as it's supposed to be. The bathroom provides a separate shower and bathtub, but the water pressure is so extremely low that it's unnecessary to even think about taking a relaxing bath, as the tub takes hours to get full. Moreover was the cleanliness of the swimmingpool questionable, as was the condition of the sunbeds provided on the beach. The pictures on the website only match with the hotel's impression by night! And for a relaxing resort and spa hotel, as described everywhere, the close proximity to Chaweng's nightlife is definitely a very negative point, as it gets quite loud and noisy especially during night hours. Bad luck for me too, was that the hotel had lots of renovation work going on during the daytime, so it never was really relaxing.
To summarize it, I would not recommend the hotel to any of my friends. Why? For young people, who like to go out and party, another cheaper place is definitely the better option and for older, more mature travelers, who'd like to relax... There are plenty of other amazing hotels in a quieter area for approximately the same price.
"Der Schnitzelwirt" located on the main street running through Chaweng, has superb quality and very tasty steaks for a very good price! Go for it and try!
"ARKbar beach resort" with it's perfect location serves a wide range of high quality food. The ambience and the party-like atmosphere make everyone smile - not only because the food is sooo good... ;-)
For saver-tourists the area has lots of markets and small Thai "restaurants" where good food is served, but for half or less than half of the price than in the normal, western restaurants. I would definitely give it a try and support the local community concurrently.

Classy Hotel with great service
walking distance from chaweng main street
overall great and satisfied hotel experienced from dara samui.
you could expect everything from a 4 class hotel. they got great service and quiet environment.
and most importantly, their dinner beside the seaside is awesome. although abit pricey, but the cooking is world class.
they got free wifi but only along the beach and in lobby.

4 star hotel with great value
Great service and nearby to chaweng main street
After staying for the first night at the hotel, we are satisfied and wanna extend our stay there.
However, we booked the wrong date but the hotel is willing to contact agoda.com and allow us to change the date without any surcharge. this is to our surprise.
Nice hotel with great swimming pool too.

Bad service, dirty rooms, undergoing construction,
We stayed for two nights and we were lucky it was only two nights. We decided to move to Chaweng Beach after a hotel in the hills and regretted the move from the start. When we first arrived there was no bell service and carried our bags up the stairs to the lobby. We were then asked to wait for a few minutes while the staff checked the room for cleanliness, which was fine until it was a 30 minute wait. When we finally got to the room, the room was dirty. The curtains to outside were filthy, the bathroom shower was moldy up to my shoulders and the the bedding and couch was stained. We asked for a new room, which they provided after much convincing. After discussing the room situation with the staff and asking for a manager we were told the manager was gone for the day at 3PM.
Furthermore, the hotel is under construction, which was not provided to us when we first booked. The spa is currently being changed to a child care center. The construction is quite an eyesore and pretty prevalent on your walk to the beach.
Finally, we had a 6AM flight and requested a taxi at the front desk and we were told by one staff member that it could be provided. When we finally went to go book the taxi they said there is no driver provided by the hotel at that hour (~430 AM), but the staff member said there would be plenty of taxis near the hotel because of the partying. When we woke up the next day, we looked out onto the street and saw no taxis and the street was dead. It was only after the staff member went down the street to a bar to find two motorbike drivers to take us to the airport.
Overall I would not recommend this hotel. It is rundown, there is construction to the spa, which was not advertised and the staff was rude and not helpful.

Do not stay here

The hotel is very new and clean, very near to the beach as well. The service was good as well. One shorcoming was the air condition doesn't work very well both in my room and my friend's room. It doesn't really cool sometimes.

Great hotel and location but need better cleaning
Hotel in general, location, lovely breakfast staff
We travelled with our 2,5 year old son, and this was not the child fredliest hotel with lots of stairs. And the rooms need better cleaning. On the positive side the pool area and beach was great. The breakfast staff at the beach side restaurant were lovely. All in all we can recommend this hotel to families travelling with small children.

Central location on very nice beach
location is good, 10 minutes from airport and property leads directly onto the beach.
room is good size, very comfortable bed, on the verge of needing a refurb but still ok. very strong stale smell...probably because no fresh air (no fly screens on windows and many mosquitos so windows stay shut!)
i ordered room service twice and then stopped. far better places elsewhere.
downfall was housekeeping...inconsistent, items not replaced (towels, minibar, bathrobe). my finished room service dish sat outside my room for more than 2 days. not pleasant!
very good complimentary internet.
pool clean. music played all day, getting louder towards happy hour in the afternoon. (too loud!)
chaweng...busy resort entirely for foreigners. depends what you are lookiing for, but i would opt for one of the quieter resorts on the west of the island next time.
Hotel Feature Tip:
Ask for room on top (2nd) floor. Acknowledged there is no lift but this floor avoids traffic. Ground floor is level with beach and 1st floor is level with reception so both get traffic of guests coming and going along echo-ing hard walkways!

Lovely hotel, great location!!
Great pool on the beach and very good location
Dara Samui is in a great location, it's a very clean hotel, large bedroom, the hotel's beautiful pool backs straight on to Chaweng beach. Beach restaurant at night was lovely too. Would definitely recommend this hotel, we felt it was very good value for money.

Nice hotel, but not eager to please
Nice rooms, good breakfast and good facilities.
A bit of a downer to the end of our holiday.
The resort itself was lovely and the ammenities were good, but we found the staff very regimented and not very friendly.
We had paid a lot for our rooms as it was, but had to pay an additional charge for my youngest sons breakfast, because we had only stipulated there would be 2 in the room, but there was three,as he just turned twelve and he wasnt eating breafast anyway. Everthing was ticked off and counted and we were even charged for extras taken from the mini bar we didnt have!
Dara Samui is right in the heart of it, it has lots of surrounding resteraunts, shopping, and nightlife.
We found it was a little more expensive up this end but not so hussle bussle either. It was nice along the beaches too.
