I would not put my mother up here

1) Probably the cheapest hotel closest to Mayo Clinic. 2) 1 block to Mayo Clinic. 3) 3 minutes walk to Mayo clinic.

All water pipes are visible in room. Pipes run vertically inside the curtain valance. Hot water pipe has missing insulation. Hot water heater leaks onto the rug. No bottled water available. Tap water has a funny taste to it. Pull down shades had broken battens. Some rooms on the 2nd floor lacked door numbers. Bathroom vanity looks like something purchased 20 years ago. Tub must be 50 years old and the enamel has worn off. Bathroom walls are preformed sheets and obviously cover up a decayed plaster wall. Door has a chain that is broken. Newer dead bold lock inside. A/C is a Haier window model, noisy, even on low speed. But it does work and the air is cold. Bed is comfortable. Plenty of hot water and strong shower in the tub. Shampoo and conditioner available. The hairdryer worked but turned itself on when it its wall holder so that it had to be unplugged when not in use. The three pieces of furniture - desk, headboard and chest of drawers were a very unusual combo of empire, roman and colonial styles. No safe in the room but there is a closet. There are 7 internet WIFI channels-none work in the room. 1 out of 7 ( #3) worked downstairs in the lobby. If one is planning to spend time visiting the Mayo Clinic, then this hotel is really only to be considered for sleeping. There is nothing in this room that would encourage anyone to spend more than 5 minutes in the room during the daytime. The hotel has very old hallways, step up bathrooms, an exceptionally old elevator that may be of interest to a museum, and each room originally had transom windows that have now been closed off. I was surprised that the Chain would let a hotel like this carry its branding. I don't think that any of the other rooms are any improvement on room. There is an adjoining roof of another building onto which someone could climb and easily open windows and gain access to a number of rooms on the 2nd floor.
