So much potential... if only...

Spacious room.
It should have been better if... - the windows are reflective to allow curtains to be opened. The pool or garden view is a joke. Guests can't draw back the curtains lest they expose their whole room to the public view. - the pool opens by 6AM. Their pool opens by 10AM. Thus, if you have no day tours during your stay in Puerto Princesa feel free to wait. - they remove the statues inside the pool. These are safety hazards. - the food prices were a bit cheaper. It's better to just take the tricycle and head to Badjao or Kalui (better food, better prices). - the lighting is improved. Seems a little too dark. The first thing I asked when I arrived is if there is a no power. Staff said there is and turned on some lamps, yet it's still a bit dark. - they changed the paint colors of all areas and hire an interior decorator to recommend so. It's weird to see dark pink, and green paints (hand brushed manually to the concrete wall) in a dark setting. It just feels gloomy. You can have a deep forest setting that can still feel familiar. The ambiance is really not thought off through and through. The result is uninviting and weird. - their staff are more attentive. I tried to call them once through their mobile and inquired about something. My next calls went unanswered. - if room rates would be much cheaper. Deep Forest is farther than other hotels. Tricycles charge special rates (Php160 for return trip at night).

Low class in every aspect

They cleaned the room everyday.
Way overpriced restaurant. Laundry is offered at by piece rate, about five times than any local place. Some employee stole three items from the top of the bags. Talked to owner about it, promised he'd investigate and get back to me- never happened. 3 and a half days without tv reception. Told owner that he should offer something for this necessary amenity. At least a meal, I offered. Yes, he agreed and texted back in forth with his employee to make sure that drinks nor dessert were included. So cheese bread, rice, and pesto pasta- and all bad. They jam their own overpriced drinks in the refrigerator so that there's no room if you want to cool off your own drinks. Menus of their food photos are glued to the wall under the tv. very low class. their trike drivers way overcharge for going into town and even more at night and when returning. horrible experience there all around.

It was the worst place ever. We stayed on the 2nd floor and you have to passed by their stairs that smells, the bathroom has the same smell too. Their staff needs training about customer service. We're never coming back!

If you want to be near town this is not for you

Quite friendly staff - facilities - near to nature
If you want a Motel style Hotel/Inn deep in the forest - if you don't mind being kept awake by wildlife (especially frogs) - and if you are prepared to ride trikes to get anywhere (n.b. most trikes are unsafe at any speed) then this may be the place for you. Having said that; the facilities worked most of the time (internet usually connected, but in a slow and intermittent manner) - aircon worked (but dripped water) - and the pool (whilst not crystal clear) was swim-able. The room were largish, with better than expected bathrooms, Curtains were coming off their rails. There is no wardrobe as such, but a bamboo hanging frame instead. Cleaning was fine. The whole place is quite dated (60's style) but fairly well kept - and the Theme is a bit confused (somewhere between 'fantasy island' and 'native art'). A word about transport. There are only about 30 taxis in the whole of Puerto, so if you get one and like the driver, get his phone number. Taxi's are not much more expensive than trikes and a good deal safer and more comfortable (+aircon). DFH have tried to address the transport problem by setting a 60 peso rate on trike rides from the Hotel to the town (what a local would negotiate for 30 pesos ish) - even then one trike driver did try to get 150 out of us, but failed when we asked passers-by their opinion on such a fare. This is not a 8.1 Hotel to us, by any means. Perhaps the Agoda score is due to all other Inns/Hotels in PP being far worse, as in our fairly well traveled opinion DFH is a 'better than average' 6.5 - 7 max. (Agoda show perfectly good 5 star Hotels with a worse score than this average 3 star Hotel/inn). Overall, nothing very badly wrong, a certain charm perhaps, and maybe as good as it gets in Puerto Princessa.

It was okay

Food is good, they live up to the world class dining. Location is good if you want to be away from the city. Hotel rates are good value for your money.
Our stay at Deep Forest Garden Inn was not that bad. The location is okay since its only minutes from the airport. The staff are very accomodating, and even welcomed you with drinks upon check-in. They even have their own tour agency (Tourister travel and tours) where you can book tours of your choice and even rent their equipment. What disappoints me is the bathroom at our room. It has no bidet, and the flush doesn't work well. Cable is bad since there are only a few channels with good reception. The game room was a mess, with all the rain on the floor and the equipment. And they have to update their site, where it says that hotel transfers from the airport is an additional fee. Overall, it was not that good, and not that bad either since the room rates are good. And the food was delicious!

1N stop over

I love the pool, the food and the room.
Its ok but a little bit disappointed. My partner had rashes all over his body because of bug bites thank god i dont have any, please do something about this because i would love to comeback with my friends. At first after entering the room the smell is unpleasant and then u get immune due to tiredness. We just stayed for a night coming from el nido and went back to manila by the afternoon. Overall, the hotel is 3 star.
