Seriously Sub-Standard - Avoid!

The beds were clean
I took my mum to Glasgow to celebrate her birthday and we booked into this hotel. We received a warm welcome - then things went downhill. The tiles in the lift are cracked and chunks are missing. The walls are very dirty. When we got out of the lift the hallway was very smelly. We went into our room to find the curtains hanging off the rail. My mum used the bathroom and the tiles were mouldy. I went down to reception to ask to be moved as we couldn't stay in a room like that. We were given a room on the 3rd floor. It was a bigger room with a double bed and single bed and the bathroom was cleaner than the first room but not properly clean by any stretch of the imagination. However, a saving grace was that the beds were clean. We went down for breakfast - :-( The coffee was lukewarm and when fresh was made it was filled up using the boiler which was giving lukewarm water!! Therefore the water for tea was also lukewarm. The bacon was cold. We got back to rest before dinner that night out in Glasgow. When we got back there was a man outside our room with a pile of bedside lamps. Ours were obviously in the pile as we had no bedside lamps when we got into our room - we both have kindles, so we managed to read. Breakfast the next morning was not any better - the lukewarm water problem had not been sorted. When we checked out. I was advised to email the hotel to list everything which I did. It took several days for a response. When I did get a response I was offered a 15% discount on our next stay! I replied stating that was not really acceptable as we had no intention of staying again. It was a trip for my mum's birthday and the catalogue of problems meant that it was a very disappointing stay and the price they charged us for a sub standard hotel was just not on. I asked for some form of partial refund as a goodwill gesture. This was refused. Customer service should be paramount for a hotel as good reviews are what keeps hotels in business but they obviously don't care.

location, Staff, Cleanliness
Thoroughly enjoyed our over night stay but as they don't have a restaurant as yet tis spoilt it a little as we had to go out for a meal. Our room was on the third floor and hotel offered free wifi in rooms sadly it was not powerful enough to use had to go down to reception to get a decent signal.
