When in Rome...

Great staff, very attentative to our needs, Friendly

Domina Romae B&B was chosen by a friend that I was on vacation with. I didn't know a lot about the hotel other than it was very small (3-5 rooms) and that it was a bed and breakfast. I would not recommend this hotel b/c it's off the tourist maps that you can get for free which being a tourist made it very difficult finding our way into rome and back to the hotel. There is a metro station about 5 min walking distance from the hotel but we found that the metro line only runs through the northern part of the city and if you wanted to go to the pubs in Trastevere you would have to take a taxi or a bus. Knowing what I know now, I would have chosen a hotel more central to access the city by foot and not getting lost as much as we did throughout our trip. Additionally, the metro stops running at 1130pm on weeknights and 0130 on the weekends, so your pretty much stuck taking a taxi home and the money forked out for that could have upgraded us to a nicer hotel in the city for what we spent on taxi fares. Furthermore, Domina Romae B&B is in a local neighborhood, which as a tourist we felt out of place. To get to any restaurants we had to commute into the heart of rome. As far as the bed & breakfast, it was packaged croissants and yogurt which I felt could have been a little more appealing if eggs and fresh fruit were provided.

Our trip started at this B&B, and it was a great start! The room was rather large and well equipped. The breakfast was nice, but above all it was the staff that really made our stay great. They were very friendly and helpful, giving kind advices and helping with anything they can. Regarding the location - it is very close to the metro. Around there is a nice supermarket with decent prices, we went there every evening to buy groceries. It looks close to the Vatican, but actually it's not as close as you think. It is only 1.5 km from the Vatican, but the entrance is at the opposite side, which adds another 1.5km. All adds up to 3km of walking. Not that bad, but if you want to avoid walking a lot the best option is metro. Highly recommended!
