Nice for the price

Friendly staff, decent breakfast, good location
Not fancy, but it was fine for a place to rest on a trip on which you don't stay in the room much.

Not good

The staff
We were worried about our stay here after reading on the internet about the bed bugs.. we were assured that the hotel was now under new management and that the standard had risen, we asked to change our room from the basement choice that was given to us. which didnt happen. the bathroom shower was black with mould around the tiles, they said it would be cleaned it was actually done on the our second day, with a powerful bleach, the smell was so bad,but the mould spores were still there. we left and went to stay else where, and they didnt even ask when we handed the key in..

Lovely staff but very small rooms and lift!

Breakfast staff very helpful & friendly, reception very helpful, location to Paddington
Generally a well maintained and smart hotel with excellent staff but it is tiny. We stayed for two nights in a family room but had 3 single beds. The dressing table/coffee making table had a chair but I had to move the chair into the corner half in front of wardrobe as you could not walk past it due to huge air conditioner on wall. One single wardrobe for a family is ridiculous and that had an iron and board hanging in it that took up most of room. One shelf above which had safe on and no drawers anywhere!! We hung what we could in wardrobe & put our case under the dressing table with clothes in as nowhere to put them. There was one tiny bedside cabinet with one drawer and the TV was on the wall. The bathroom was clean as was the room except for the overflow hole in sink which was caked in black and I cleaned and scrubbed with wet wipes. Nice size shower and plenty of towels. The lift was the tiniest thing I had ever seen and the three of us squeezed into it! It broke down twice whilst we were there but luckily we were on first floor and I did not feel safe in it anyway so would not have used it as was like the size of small double wardrobe!! The staff were lovely especially the lady in breakfast room who spoke perfect English as did the receptionists. I did ask if our radiator could be looked at as the room had one single glazed window with view of back alley and the dial on rad was stuck and I couldn't turn it round but nobody bothered to come and look so I wore cardigan to bed! I would only recommend this hotel to couples who need a base for one or two nights as just not big enough to stay any longer. And I would not request the 6th floor if you cannot climb stairs easily as the lift engineers are always being called out!!

family visit to london ,sightseeing.

We were 4 adults sharing a room. It was very cramped and the double bed in which I slept was quite possibly the most uncomfortable bed I have ever slept on...the mattress was old and soft and the springs were easily felt. There was a problem with one of the bedside lights and when we requested attention for it the electrician fixed it at the expense of another one.Phone in room did not work properly. The bathroom was small and very hot as there was no fan. Staff were a mixed bunch, our first encounter was with a receptionist who appeared to be dazed and sapped of energy, the next girl was very pleasant. Breakfast was mediocre, served in a very cramped room and the attendant staff were much too intrusive. Not a pleasant place to stay.

hotel's room is so small but clean. the distance between hotel and tube is so far. so noise in the evening because the opposite hotel has a bar. not recommend to family with children and the lift seems so dangerous
Frank F. Families with older children United Kingdom, July 7, 2013
Short but enjoyable

Location, Price and Staff
Like other small hotels in London the lift was too small. It also broke down while we were there. It was hardly a triple room - more like a double with a temporary bed - the room was therefore very small.

You can't polish a t^rd!

It had a roof....umm.....
Don't let the beautiful old building fool you, this is a dog of a place. The cupboard sized rooms had just had a fresh coat of paint applied to them, so fresh that we had to sleep with the window open to ensure the fumes didn't give us brain bubbles. The toilet then leaked and stunk quit a bit. This was attended to rather promptly, I must say but the 'sticky tape' fix-it job was soon found wanting. The breakfast area was teaming with screaming kids of all ages stuffing their chubby head with fruit loops and danishes and what ever other sugar based products were on offer. Despite this being free, we only ate there once. It was close to Hyde Park and within 10 minutes walk of 3 tube lines. So thats good I suppose.....
