Breakfast with impressive Paradise Flycatchers
Helpful host; the bird life in the extensive back area bordering on jungle; proximity to Sirigiya, Ritigala, and Elephant safaris
Enjoyed it greatly; hope to return. Enjoyed being introduced to string hoppers and egg hoppers; but especially enjoyed the bird life and tranquility in the back garden/outdoor dining area.

nice tree house vs. annoying service
frogs and lizards in the room, really close to the nature, good air circulation
Beautiful tree house, cool expirience to be so close to the nature,
---horrible annoying hard to stand manager.

Unique atmosphere with several floors.
Cabins, lodges were a welcome change to hotels etc.
We arrived and we given two options either a small room with a double bed or an eqaully small room with two single beds and cockroaches that seemed to be on steroids to welcome us. So we chose the former. Did I mention that the room was for THREE people, two females and a male.
The hotel blamed were told that they were given a request for only 2 people to stay when the website and my documents clearly stated three. So I made do with a matress on the floor.
The toilet was broken too.
As the menu was limited, we were allowed to bring food from outside and eat it in the "restaurant."
There are other places worth going than this. But if you are in the mood to slum it out in Sri Lanka for a little while then choose this.

Never spent four nights in a tree house before!
wildlife on your doorstep.
We'd booked a 'standard double' and from the hotel's picture gallery, 'standard' was what we'd expected. On arrival, though, we were offered and shown the alternative 'bungalow', a haphazard, wooden, two-roomed structure with veranda and (cold water) shower raised about ten-foot above ground on tree trunks.
So there we were, living in a tree-house with a 6000 volt DC electric cable round it to stop wild elephants knocking us out of the tree! Thought that was a bit OTT, myself, until we ducked under the cable, walked a few metres to a stream and saw Jumbo footprints. 'If you see him, just keep silent', our man said. 'Yeah, Right!'
This is more a forest park with lodges than a hotel, is quite peaceful despite its proximity to the Laksirigama Anurahdapura Road, and from our raised vantage point we were treated to some fantastic bird-watching. The food is great and so are the staff. We twice had Sri Lankan dinner and there's a choice of Sri Lankan or 'eggs and toast' for breakfast. For a change, you can walk towards Habarana town for a couple of restaurants or even use the facilities of the big Chaaya Village resort.
We were shown the way to the tank behind Eagle's Wings from where following the bank will also take you to the swankier hotels. Beautiful in its own right, the tank and walk around it are a photographer and wildlife enthusiast's dream! You will just have to stand aside for working elephants taking tourists for a (safari!?) ride from time to time...
There you are, not luxurious, for sure, but great fun, abundant wildlife, super people and value for money, too.
If you've come for the big parks and reserves in the area, consider the much closer, less visited and much less expensive Hurulu Eco Park as an alternative. The hotel staff can arrange a jeep to take you (it's just around the corner!) and there'll be more than enough elephants there if you time it right.
