Beautifully restored heritage building, spacious rooms
Travelled with my dog (a large, affable labrador that's hard to miss!) and was very pleased at being able to enjoy pet-friendly accommodation in such a beautiful place. Staff are friendly and helpful and the rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with an old world feel. Would definitely recommend to travellers looking for a unique boutique hotel experience.

1 night stay at East Indies
Everything was good, cleanliness , location , amenties and staff were excellent. Everything was perfect till midnight when I'm trying to sleep !! The wood inbetween the 2 floors were so thin that every footstep could be heard. I was staying in the lower floor room, nutmeg 1 I believe . From 12 midnight to 5am , while I was trying to sleep. I could hear running and walking footsteps all the way coming from the room above me. Apparently , it's a family with children who are staying above , thus the running and all. The only negative point .

Noisy timber flooring and totally zero wifi
I was stayed at the downstair room, the guests above my room is extremely noisy. I can't make a call from my room as it is totally no line, the wifi is flat, don't know what to do in the room.

Pleasant Stay
Was impressed by the heritage mansion and its environment. Manned by great staff (Linda, Jass, Vijay, etc) and they made you feel so welcome with their hospitality. This is one of the great place to stay and rest, while at the same time experience the historical value of the establishment and Penang. The only disappointment which we had was, we have reserved Anista room but due to repair work required, we were given Cinnamon 2. But Linda and Jass made an effort for our last night by transferring us to the "smaller" Anista room and we really enjoyed the last night!

lovely boutique hotel
I'm in love with this beautiful boutique hotel. First off, the architecture and interior design tries to stay true to the original Chinese-Malay colonial era heritage. The environment inside is very tranquil and peaceful. You'll quickly forget that ur in the middle of the hustlin' & bustlin' George Town. The photos don't lie. Great location btw. Lastly the staff are super cool and friendly. Highly recommended!
