Convenient and good price. Rooms kept clean. Nice free items in mini-bar. More choices and variety at breakfast would be good.

Lovely hotel, good location, overpriced internet.
Big rooms, nice pool, excellent buffet breakfast.

What we didn't like is what I would call the Koh Chang syndrom: the general dislike everywhere of accepting credit cards. While you pay any amount in Bangkok without fuss.
Even a 4 star hotel like the Kacha wanted me to pay cash for a 450 Bht restaurant bill or otherwise they would charge 5% for credit card fee on a Visa/MasterCard (which is the rate charged by Amexco/Diners Club...which by the way they do not honour!).Everyone knows that Visa/MasterCard only charge 2,25 %, never 5%.
While the world is moving to a cashless society, Koh Chang as a whole insists on cash and will accept cards only at a high minimum sale limit or overcharge you higher card fees !
Uncomfortable feeling when you are short of cash and unpleasant feeling of greed to be added to the fact that Thai banks -contrary to many other countries- charge you 150 Bht on ATM cash widrawels while your bank at home will also charge about the same amount. All very greedy.
The staff at the reception desk at Kacha while very polite were also quite stubborn and not ready to use their brain to understand a situation. When we extended our stay. They sent us to their smelly worn out seaside rooms on the other side of the road. Although we could prove to them with a screen copy of the booking that there were no one single type of room advertised as so called "Standard" and that these uggly rooms were in fact sold at a higher rate than the Hill Side for which we paid for, they still forced us to pay an 'upgrade' for the Hillside room if we wanted to remain in the room. An other important minus: the highly prohibitive rates of their internet connection.
Shopping Tip:
If you stay at the Kacha and want to rent a motobyke, we would recommand the shop right in front on the other side of the road: good rates, honest and friendly owner, no cheat.
For your Laundry, the one in front of the hotel on the other side of the road charge 50 Bht/kg while an other Laundry about 1000 m south on the same side of the road will only charge you 20 Bht/kg.

Lovely hotel but slightly run down.
Great location, spacious rooms.

the rooms were clean but i don't think they cleaned the bathrooms well enough. throughout my stay, there were dirt on the bathtub that they did not clean. other than that, each of the rooms has a different theme and the room was well-equiped with bottled drinks and small snacks that is complimentary. the hotel staff are very friendly though some of them cannot speak engligh well.
Restaurant Tip:
The night market near the BTS (just a walk away) has a lot of street food that is amazing. A must try!

Great location for brt and river bus
Swimming pool, free drinks and snacks in room
7,3
We had a superior room, that seemed rather basic, but was clean and comfortable. The free snacks and cold cans of drink were nice after a hot and hectic day out touring. The pool, whilst small, was also very good. Location was handy as it was a short stroll to both the brt station and the river bus port and we found it easy to go to all the places we wanted to go, palace, temples, chatuchak etc. also a good choice of street food stalls in the area, plus a good selection of shops for essentials, ATMs etc.

Good hotel for a good price
7,7
The service is good as always. The rooms are clean and beautiful. Most of the rooms have been renovated last year. Although it is located at sathorn road the rooms are not too loud. The swimming pool is a special benefit if you are traveling with children.
Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
You can use the speedboat on chao praya river for transport as well. Its a nice view on the city.

Quiet location with a pool
Quiet location, easy access to river and skytrain, pool

I chose this hotel because it is alittle bit away from the overly touristy spots, but has easy access to public transport. And because it has a pool. The pool was fantastic to cool off in after a very hot day of sight seeing. There is a market and restuarants only a 5 min walk away. The pier and sky train was also only a few mins walk away. I did request an airport pick up but that didn't happen and the taxi that we got had abit of trouble finding the hotel but having done our research and have checked it out on google street view we knew where we wanted to go which helped. The staff were helpful and the rooms basic but clean. I'd be happy to stay again

Reasonable hotel, unhelpful front counter staff
6,3
easy walk to the train station and to the state tower, which is fantastic. the staff at breakfast were very good and helpful, and the breakfast itself was well done. there was also a good view of the freeway through large windows at breakfast which was quite enjoyable. the rooms were only just satisfactory, and our non-smoking room smelt of smoke.
Nightlife Tip:
Go up to the top of the state tower
