Spend your money on other hotels

It was bery cold inside the room and could hardly adjust the temperature. The hotel didnt pay attention to our request. I left a iphone charger at the room. The staff said she found the charger but actually that was not mine. I won't come back again.

A pleasent stay

Atmosphere, staff, decoration

The hotel is slightly overrated to be a 4 star one. Pros: 1. Good environment. It is located far from the busy city so enjoys quietness. The outside looks quite nice and you can have some nice moment sitting on the stone chairs just in front of the gate. There is a lounge close to the lobby, where classic musics will be played at night. 2. Nice staff. The staffs were quite welcoming and helpful, most speaking very good English. Cons: 1. Location. The location is a bit too far from city and the local drivers are not so familiar with its address. Some driver refuse to go there at night. 2. Mediocre facility in the room. The room itself looks decent but not of a 4 star hotel. Basic things are in place but nothing fancy. 3. Limited choices for breakfast. There were not many we could choose from and the taste was not good either. Overall, it was a pleasant stay but I would not come back again.

Staff, rooms and service.

I stayed in a terrible hotel the night before. I decided to move an pay a little more, which turned out to be one of the best decisions of my trip north. The hotel itself is beautiful and well worth the money!

A nice quiet hotel

cleanliness, staff, breakfast

The Empress is just far away from the centre of town to be quiet and sedate however close enough to walk in to town. Its a really nice hotel, clean, comfortable and well located. The pool is a little small and with one end raising to knee deep, you can't really get a decent swim in. You have to watch out for sunburn, the exterior glass windows are an angular feature and from midday to sunset, bounce sunlight around so even under the umbrellas, sunlight is still hitting you and a couple people I met had suffered pretty serious burns. There's a tuk tuk driver at the end of the road you have to walk out of constantly trying to get you to go to his friends 'massage parlour' which makes leaving the hotel feel a bit tacky and sordid.

I was in a junior suite, its in a different building, old and dated, doubt it's been updated since the 70s. You have to walk through a car park, down an alley and cross a road before getting to the main site. It's quite quiet from road noise etc however as the place is old, it seems doors don't shut properly so get slammed. I'd stay there again if having guests stay was important but there are better quality hotels.

free welcome goody bag, turn-down service with orchids every night, grandeur

very pleasant stay, efficient from check-in to check-out, nothing was too much trouble for the staff, minimum fuss. Asked to check out a bit later than 12 and told no problem. Bell hop service could have been better, nobody on our arrival, then nobody to take luggage to room on arrival. On 16th floor, so concerned one window was unlocked- could be problematic for this with children. A guest lounge available on floor 17 for use of those staying on floors 16 and 17, but not as advertised. No snacks, drinks or newspapers available, just a seating area.
