Good Hotel in Bad Location

Friendly staff, neat metro station
The hotel is just 2 minutes walk to the metro and near the tourist attractions, however, it's in an area called Ommonia where we were told its dangerous to be walking alone, especially at night. We were not aware of the area's bad reputation until we got here and saw it ourselves. There are many immigrants milling around and people either drugged or drunk walking the street is quite common. The good thing (or bad) is that there were always police men stationed outside our hotel but with several handcuffed individuals lined up, which made me very nervous. But the hotel itself is good value for money and the staff are very friendly and helpful when we ask for recommendations on sites to see and food to eat. There are also no decent restaurants around the hotel so make sure you eat out before going back to the hotel. At night, the neighbors are also very loud either talking, watching TV, or banging something even in the middle of the night. I will not recommend this area for lone female traveller. Also, not the area to go walking at night.

Acceptable hotel, terrible noise

The price was low and the room was clean and ok
In front of the hotel there is a "Pentecostal church" and they were shouting, litterally shouting, with crazy tunes, their prayers until 4 am.. incredible!! It seemed to have the priest in my room :( well.. and at 7 am people began to work in tha road (exactly they were using jackhammer to perform important works on tha road.. amazing ps staff didn't know one word of english!!
