Well situated resort that is past its hey day

location location location
My stay was very pleasant but in comparison to the normal business hotels I would say this is definitely not a 4 star establishment. It is in a nice location with lovely views (depending on the room you get) and the staff tries their best with keeping things as best they can but obviously does so on a tight budget. The room furniture are nicely furnished with old furniture but are very small compared to the norm, mine did not have a shower or aircon, decent TV and was quite cramped - luckily we only slept there. The mattress was old and room cramped with a terrible view but there seemed to be nicer rooms around. The breakfast was ok with good views but not at a normal business hotel standard. I would recommend that you visit this hotel and have a sundowner on the deck to appreciate the views but there are other options in the area that offer much more at the same price.

Monkey Valley Resort , not by choice
It was not very pleasant at all , booked and paid for in advance an executive suite with 2 bedrooms , only got a standard room. Telephone ooo , TV terrible reception , tea , coffee , milk only supplied first day. Bathroom / hand basin leaking. Got no value for money at all , survived only 2 of the 4 nights there. Checked out earlier and went to another hotel.

Poorly managed booking, staff too busy

Good setting
Was not impressed with our booking at this hotel. We had booked it for oour last two nights of our honeymoon, and had booked an executive sea-facing suite. When we arrived we were put into a room that was definitely NOT sea-facing and when we asked about this at reception they said it was. You coul deffinitely not see even a glimpse of the sea from the room. W were then moved into one of the self-catering cottages which was fine, and clean, but not what we had booked and looked forward to. The next morning we went down to breakfast at 8am, of which there was nothing. The food 'wasnt ready yet'. We waited for 15 minutes and eventually had some fruit. On our last night we decided to have dinner at the restaurant, and becuase of a wedding at the hotel, they were very short-staffed and we waited a very long time for our main course, which didnt even match the description of the menu at all.Our side orders never arrived, and the waiter never apologised about this, just laughed and said he wouldnt put it on the bill. We then ordered dessert (pancakes with a berry coulis) and half hour later recieved a pancake with sliced banana inside (which I hate).I asked the waiter about it and he laughed and said that 'oh we change the menu sometimes'. All in all we were not impressed with the hotel at all, and would not rush back there in a hurry.

Amazing views

The view, the room and the beach
I booked the sea view room. It has a stunning sea view. The room is perfect for young couples in holidays.

What a location - just a great spot

The views over Noordhoek
We had stayed here before, but were in a different unit this time. The units are spacious and comfortable, with everything you need for a pleasant stay. The Television is small, reflecting the fact that you come to Monkey Valley to chill and enjoy nature. The views are spectacular, and it is a great spot; walk down the boardwalk to the beach or just chill on the Hotel balcony. On the negative side, the decor is getting a little tired and probably due for renovation some time soon, and our unit was close to the sewage sump, with some associated smells at night. Although the staff did inspect it and it improved on day 3, it was still noticeable. Next time we will select a different unit!

Wonderful hotel in milkwood forest

Cottages in the milkwood forest. View of the ocean wiht magnificent white Noordhoek Beach
An amazing resort in the heart of the Milkwood Forest. The cottage was comfortable and spacious. Very well equipped, clean and neat. Each bedroom had its own bathroom. 2 bedrooms upstairs and one downstairs. Kitchen was well equipped with a dishwasher. the staff was very friendly and helpful. View of the ocean and beach from every bedroom. Lovely place to relax and enjoy nature.

Excellent location

Service and location is excellent
The service was excellent, however the rooms are not up to 4/5 star hotels/B&B. There is a small bath tub, a small old snowy tv. Poor interior designing. The fireplace was old and broken, they do not even supply you with a small batch of complimentary firewood as in other similar bookings. The location is excellent, the staff service is excellent and the food was wonderful.
