Beautiful old mansion!
The high ceilings and antique furniture, the comfortable front porch with view, the large shower.
We stayed at Esperanza on New Year's Eve and took an Uber to get to the V & A Waterfront for the New Year's Eve bash. The house is built with high ceilings, trimmed with solid wood and brass decor, and furnished with beautiful antiques. Our host ensured that everything was unloaded from our rental car to be safely stowed in the walled compound. The view of downtown Cape Town from the terrace is gorgeous. There's a hot tub in the front yard, but we didn't have time to go in. Breakfast is served at a large table and cooked to order.

Convenient place, nice building, nice room
easy access to city,
Marc is an easy-going host who is accessible but doesnt bother you. Room 5 was big, free standing bath tub in the bathroom and exttra shower. If you make an effort to look out of your window past the compund wall you can see table mountain right there. easy walking distance through the parks to the city. No separate car parking but you can park in front of the house. Big, comfy bed Communal breakfast at the big table. Well stocked beverage fridge with an honesty box, in case the Cape's strange alcohol laws left you stranded without a drink. good place. Majority of guests seemed to be German

Beautiful old house with huge room
Comfortable stay with very helpful assistance staff
the guest house is in a lovely 110 year old house and is fairly centrally located. the room was very big and comfortable. the "service" staff were very friendly and very good at their tasks. unfortantely the room (1) did not have a shower and no staletite television. there was one satalite sport channel but the signal was generally bad and the sound was off so that didn't really count. also, the main door of the guest house has a tricky lock and i got locked outside twice. the first time i could reach the owner on his cell phone but the second time had me waiting outside for half and hour after half past ten at night. the owner could not be reached on his cellphone or landline. luckily other guests arrived later and they let me in. when i spoke to the guest house owner about it the next morning he wasn't very appologetic and gave the impression that i must just not have tried hard enough. as far as i was oncerned i had tried everything to get in. there also isn't secure parking for your car. upon arrival the owner very casually tells me that i mustn't leave anything in the car because they won't steal the car but they will smash the window to get things out the car. i know this happens in sa but it seemed like quite a common occurance as their was still glass lying in the road as evidence that it had happened recently. it was nice enough stay but i was dissapointed
