Vanhahko hotelli melko hyvällä paikalla
melko rauhallisella paikalla sijaitseva hotelli, paikalliseen hintatasoon verrattuna isot huoneet, MRT-asemalle 10 minuutin kävely

Hotelli oli jo vähän nuhjuinen, eikä huonesiisteys ollut niitä parhaita. Varsinkin kylpyhuoneeen kalusteet tarvitsisivat uusimista. Kylppärissä oli kuitenkin amme ja suihku. Sänky oli melko mukava ja huoneessa laskutilaa aika hyvin. Jouduimme vaihtamaan ensimmäisen yön jälkeen huonetta, sillä ilmastointilaite piti niin kovaa pauketta ja ratinaa, ettemme pystyneet nukkumaan. Seuraavassa huoneessa ilmastointilaite oli vähän hiljaisempi, mutta vanha ja vähän ratiseva sekin.
Hotellissa oli uima-allas, jonka vesi varsin puhdasta, mutta altaan ympäristö huonokuntoinen, ei allaspyyhkeitä.
Lähimmälle MRT-asemalle oli matkaa puolisen kilometriä, liikennevaloista riippuen sellaiset 10 minuuttia. Lähistöllä paljon ruokapaikkoja.
Hotellin hintataso oli paikallisesti varsin maltillinen, huoneet isohkot.

Hyvä sijainti, metrolla pääsee lentokentälle sekä keskustaan. Ruokapaikkoja vieressä, myös yksi josta sai eurooppalaista ruokaa! Uima-allas matala, mutta melko iso! Rakennus on vanha, mutta huoneet hyvin pidettyjä ja siistejä!Kylpy-amme! Siisti vessa! Menisin uudestaan, rahalle saa vastineen!
Restaurant Tip:
Hotellin päädyn puoleisen kadun toisella puolella hyvä ravintola, nimessä on "chicken"...en muista mitä muuta. Erittäin hyvä pesto-kana, suosittelen! Myös muuta ruokaa eurooppalaisten makuun!

Hotel room was considerable large with decent bathroom completed with bath tub. Water pressure were good and hot water can be get within seconds. Hotel management need to improve room cleaning including to change/clean coffee mugs every day. Room need to be more sound proofed especially we can hear people talks and running in hallways. Positive things about Hotel 81 Tristar is near to Paya Lebar MRT and walking distances to local restaurants. This is the good budget hotels if you are only looking place for bed and bath.

Quick but sufficient

Our room was more spacious than we had anticipated, which was very good. We left the hotel in early mornings and came back around or after sunset, so we mainly just showered and slept in our room. Overall it was clean enough, but the floor was ALWAYS dirty. It was dirty when we first arrived and it wasn't cleaned even once during our stay. We even found rubbish under one of the beds upon a small, personal investigation one evening. We really hope the situation will not be the same the next time we plan to stay there.
Location-wise the hotel was somewhat interesting. Because it wasn't situated anywhere near the CBD, we were able to have a sneak peak in the environment where regular locals live

Budget Hotel For Flashpackers

I stayed at th Hotel 81 Tristar for 1 night (1.5 nights to be exact). The staff provided a good service, although they kept showing the normal - non friendly - Singaporean manners they managed to help me arranging all the assistance I need : from helping my bunch of luggages secured, keeping my itinerary in Singapore well managed, to letting me keep some of stuffs at the hotel over my stay period.
The room itself was nice. It was large, fully equipped with all amenities that you expect from a flashpacker kind of hotel, clean, and of course : considerably cheap compared to any other hotel in the area.
One thing is : this hotel actually not resides in Katong area, but more to Geylang area.
