Formerly one of Salzburg’s oldest inns, this building dates back to 1377 and has a prime position just 500 meters from Mozart’s birthplace.All major sightseeing attractions and shopping areas are within a short walking distance, including the fascinating Fortress Hohen Salzburg, and the Festival House, both just 500 meters away.Situated on the banks of the Salzace River, this traditional Austrian style building oozes charm and elegance from a bygone period, with individual rooms featuring aged timber beams, classic period furniture, and views of the Kapuziner Monastery, Salzach River, or the old fortress.Visitors should be sure to take the Sound of Music tour from Mirabellplatz bus terminal, two kilometeres away. The hotels location is perfect. The bus stops 1/2 a block from the front door. The rear door opens on to the pedestrian street and all of the shopping area. The rooms are large and immaculate. This is both an historic and modern hotel.
When we checked in we were given a voucher for a free drink in the bar. We went there the next evening and had to finally ask at the front desk if there was a bartender. We did receive our drinks, this is not the place for nightlife.
The Altstadt Radisson SAS Hotel is a favorite. I stayed here with my husband and 4 young children 8 years ago. This time I wanted to share the experience with my mother. We both enjoyed the convenience of walking out the door and being in the heart of Salzburg. The view of the river and mountains, listening to the horse and carriage drive by and the large variety of breakfast foods is the perfect way to start the day. Walking is the only way to see Salzburg and the staff was happy to provide a map and directions. Fresh fruit at the desk was a good snack after all the walking. Umbrellas are available in your room if needed.
Restaurant Tip : We enjoyed dinner at "Cafe Mozart".
located just 2 blocks from the hotel it is frequented by locals. The food was delicious and inexpensive. We were entertained by the men playing chess in the back room!

It is in a wonderful location and hard to beat the atmosphere and style, which was quite unique.
Restaurant Tip : Alt Salzburg was the best restaurant in town by far, but too expensive.

South Station near Vienna, to split the four-star hotel accommodation that costs are low.
After breakfast, university students who act in concert, and I go back to the room to check out the room key does not open, despite tried many employees in key cutting, took 30 minutes, finally could open the door. Impending departure of the train in time, not think of anything.
