Graben Hotel Vienna Info
Located in the heart of the historic city center, a few minutes from St Stephen’s Cathedral, this hotel has the perfect location for exploring Vienna. The hotel is only 100 meters from the Stephen’s Square underground station, and a five minute walk from the opera house. The express train from the airport stops round the corner at the City Air Train Terminal. The Graben Hotel in Vienna was a famous meeting place for artists and writers like Franz Kafka at the beginning of the 20th century. The Art Nouveau building dates from 1918 and the rooms are all individually shaped and decorated. All rooms have satellite TV and free high speed wireless internet is available throughout the hotel. The Trattoria Santo Stefano and the Altenberg restaurant serve fabulous Italian and Austrian food and the famous Café Hawelka across the street is a place where today’s artists come together.

Location, location, location...
Also hospitable staff, clean rooms, pleasant breakfast venue
small, elementary room and washroom
furniture that had known better days
price
Smack in the center of district 1, right next to Stephansplatz, the location is the strength of this hotel. You can literally walk to all major sites. You would expect nicer rooms for the money but if you are going to spend most of your time strolling outside - this is great value for your money. The staff was helpful, when we asked for directions we received a printout of Googlemaps with the route, the rooms are clean (but small, especially the washroom), internet did not work properly and money was refunded. Breakfast is quite elementary, served in the adjacent pleasant Italian restaurant.
Shopping Tip : Amidst expensive shops, H&M has 3 stores right around the corner if you want to fill the suitecases with clothes for the kids, teenagers, or yourself.

The service and breakfast and the location.
Furnitures, carpet are old, need update, expensive.
We enjoyed our stay in Graben Hotel. The service and breakfast are excellent, above all, the location is the best, it is in the heart of the everything; about 1-2 min walk to the Metro, and shopping and is just steps away; and very convenient to get around to all different sites..... Overall, we had a great time there.

Compact, nice and friendly.
Arrival by car is not so easy
Graben is a comparatively small hotel, with probably the best Vienna location. Silent side street (20 steps from Graben) even does not remind that you're in city center. Rooms are very small, but who's care about it in Europe's center. Everything is very clean and that is important. TV set is old and ugly but who's care... Car arrival is pretty tricky and you should leave it in a small place in order to call a bell boy, since there is no direct approach to the entrance. Parking is expensive (29Eu) and it takes half an hour to get a car by valet (no other option), only one time valet service is included, each additional one is 4Eu. Breakfast is simple and good. For conclusion: expensive, but very nice place to stay in Vienna.
