A cozy, comfortable hotel with a friendly touch

At first, we choose this hotel because of its proximity to our conference venue at International Convention Centre. It's also very close to Ghent Station.
It's a pleasant surprise to find that this hotel is a nice place to stay, especially with the friendly smile and personalized touch by the 3 brothers who runs the place. They are very helpful and offering good advise to explore Ghent.
The breakfast is another pleasant surprise. I have the best croissant in my life! The selection is adequate for a sumptuous & healthy breakfast to kick start your day.
The room is clean and comfortable with all the expected basic amenities. But, the bathroom is a bit small, and no place to hang your clothes. The cabinet for hanging clothes is a bit odd, and dark. Everything else is ok!

the owner was very friendly and made us feel welcome. he gave us some good information about things to do and see in ghent. the hotel is in the process of being renovated by the new owners. our room was lovely and big, but smelt of cigarette smoke. the buffet breakfast had a good range of options and some nice touches, such as the little glass jars for spreads, and the fresh orange juicer. the hotel is conveniently located right by the train station but a little way from the city centre.
Restaurant Tip:
Really good vegan, organic restaurant nearby.

Lovely hotel and service with a smile, really!

I choosed this hotel mostly by location and didn't expect much. Warm welcome from receptions man was extremely pleasant. He told me much about orientation and transportation in Ghent, gave me maps and told other helpful information. My room was second pleasant news. It was big and comfortable, with good furniture and cozy beds. On big table was LCD TV and enough space for work with PC. Teapot, cups and glasses were on small table. Teapot was only disappointment, because of limescale and only that was a just one minor negative room aspect for me. Bathroom was OK. Room view was good. Didn't hear any noise from outside or inside. Internet was fast enough.
Main train station in 5 minutes walk - very convenient. Pair of night shops near hotel entrance.
Every time when I came in or going out, I was greeted with warm smile from staff.
Overall I'm enjoyed my stay and recommending this hotel.

We had an enjoyable time in Ghent. This hotel was a total surprise as we did not expect such a spacious room with complimentary room amenities (beverages). The staff was helpful and we really enjoyed our stay at the Carlton.
Would definitely recommend to a friend.
