Charming, characteristic, individual hotel.
Character, style, courtyard around the pool
7.3
If you prefer individual, characteristic hotels instead of holiday resorts and corporate hotels, then you’ll love this. It’s unique and original. It’s built like a Greek Palace and every internal wall is covered with Greek murals or full length mirrors. However, the bathrooms were a little tacky with stippled doors, toilets and tiles. Being out of season, the restaurant was only open for breakfast only and not evening dinner, however, there were plenty of restaurants nearby and the harbour was just a 10 minute walk.
There are no room safes so any valuables have to be deposited with the reception, which was of concern to us as we had arrived with lots of cash during their financial crisis and closure of the banks for 11 days. Unfortunately, there are no tea/coffee facilities in the rooms. Wifi is available in the rooms at €5 for 90 minutes. The staff are friendly and as helpful as possible but they are not local Cypriots so their knowledge of local petrol stations or restaurants is very limited. The cost of the room was very reasonable so overall I think the hotel is excellent value for money.

Not what we expected!
Clean, comfortable and spacious room, friendly, helpful staff and proximity to local restaurants.
5.3
Outrageously decorated, rabbit warren of a building with every wall covered either with huge murals of Greek mythology (with a bit of Roman and Egyptian thrown in) or full length mirrors which are very confusing at first. We were disappointed to find that although the description offered an inviting swimming pool and a restaurant both were closed and although our room overlooked the garden I never did find any access to it. I always check out fire escapes and the signing was not very obvious.
The buffet breakfast consisted of a choice of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, cold meat and cheese and if you preferred a cooked breakfast there was bacon, sausage, beans, mushrooms and
fried egg (or sometimes scrambled) but bear in mind that these were being kept warm so they were not always at their best.
Our room was fairly spacious, clean with comfortable beds (not a double after all but two singles pushed together) and plenty of storage. The bathroom had no obvious ventilation and most days on our return we were greeted by an unpleasant sulphurous smell. The balcony floor tiles had an accumulated layer of dirt and didn't look as if they had been swept or washed for ages.
The lounge and bar areas are well furnished but the drinks are expensive in comparison with local restaurants. It was fortunate that there was a good choice within walking distance as the hotel one was only open for breakfast.
WiFi was available but at 5 Euros for 90 minutes we gave it a miss.
All the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful.
This is an interesting building with bags of character and loads of potential. It is a pity
that it seems to be lacking a bit of TLC. Tea and coffee facilities in the rooms would be a massive improvement for guests for a relatively small investment. In the event it just became somewhere to crash. There are signs of a facelift to the hotel front. I hope that Raftis Hotels intend to continue improvements that will enhance the comfort of their guests.

Sightseeing/Attractions Tip:
