Prague 01

Most of Prague 1 is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Hotels in this area are close enough to sights to reach them on foot, and most sights are located close to each other.

Old Town is the oldest part of Prague, dating back to the Middle Ages. Its cobblestone streets are lined with restaurants, pubs and cafes, often filled with thousands of tourists. Jewish Town is a small enclave within Old Town includes a number of important synagogues and the Jewish Museum. St. Vitus Cathedral in The Old Town Square is a meeting point for many of the city’s walking tours. Alternatively, private and customizable ‘Prague On Segway’ tours are available. River tours are the best way of seeing the Vltava River and the Charles Bridge; both considered ‘must-see’ attractions.

Prague Castle, the biggest ancient castle in the world, is the highest point on the left bank, and offers beautiful views of the city below. Visitors can also see the Presidential Guard, and the changeover of the guards on duty on the hour. The settlement around the castle, known as Lesser Town, is home to the Czech Parliament.

Part of Prague’s New Town, the district adjacent to Old Town, is included in the Prague 1 district and consists of boutique shops, restaurants, and cafes.

The international airport, and Prague’s outer suburbs are easily accessed by tram from Prague 1. As throughout the city centre, taxis are readily available, tourists must be careful not to be overcharged.
