I was flying to Helsinki for a conference at the University of Helsinki and booked my room in advance based on price and proximity to the airport for a late arrival. I liked it well enough that I booked a room for my very early morning return to the airport at the end of my stay in Finland.

Shuttle to and from airport. Fine dining. Reasonable price. Clean. Friendly staff.

Do your booking on-line. It saves a lot of money over what you are quoted at the desk.

• Travel tip : Make your reservation on-line. I was concerned about booking a non-smoking room, only to find all rooms are non-smoking. Another plus.

This is a cheap, clean and friendly hotel best suited for the business traveller as a stop off due to its location. Very clean, lots of space, Good breakfast and a Free airport shuttle bus to and from the airport. If you want to go into Helsinki city centre you can get a blue1 bus from the airport for around 3.80 Euro each way or a Finnair bus for 5.90 Euro each way. It will take 35-40 minutes by bus to get to the city or a Taxi will take 20 minutes but cost around 30-35 Euro.

Very clean, lots of space, Good breakfast and a Free airport shuttle bus to and from the airport.

No Tea/coffee making facilites in the room, no bath.

• Shopping Tip : Jumbo superstore only 10 minutes walk away where you can buy food, shop for gifts and eat out.

Visit the Jumbo shopping centre nearby. for everything you need with out having to travel all the way into Helsinki.

Note that there are no shuttle buses from the airport from 12pm to 3pm, at least if you travel in summer.

Very Good value for money hotel Guest Rating: 3.8

Large "Jumbo" store nearby where you can buy anything from clothes to food. Ask hotel member of staff how to get there. 10 minute walk.

Cheap, Cheerful, Frendly, Budget Hotel Guest Rating: 3.3

This hotel is ideal if you are traveling on a budget, business or just an overnight stay. It is conveniently located near the airport. Helsinki city centre is quite far away, 35/40 minutes away by bus which you can take at the airport costing as little as 4 Euro's each way using Blue Line Bus or 5.90 Euro's using Finnair bus. Taxi's can be expensive 35-38 Euro's each way.

A comfortable hotel Guest Rating: 4.5

The good point is they have free buses frequently(early morning to the middle of the night). If you take a taxi, you need (about)12euro from the airport to the hotel.

Annoyed Guest Rating: 1.8

Cumulus needs to turn at least some of their many rooms into doubles.

This hotel is good if you want to be near the airport and with the free shuttle bus is convenient. But expect to take lots of buses if you want to go into Helsinki city (30 minutes by bus).
