Lovely place to stay on a weekend to France

we have visited this hotel in bollezeele a number of times, and particularly enjoy staying for the food. the menu consists of 4 courses, and you have a choice of 3 or 4 depending how much you want to eat or pay. it ranges from, which seems expensive, but the food is first class. we were served drinks in the lounge area while we decided on our meals. the first starter selection includes duck foie gras, smoked duck breast and a symphony of seafood. i started with a burgundy style timbale of oxtail covered with puff pastry. the main courses include lamb medallions, pan fried vegetables and tarragon sauce, beef and seabass, but i decided on the veal kidneys flambéed with gin. every dish is individually prepared with a selection of vegetables, my dish was served with a small dish of daphinoise potatoes and a soufflé. my husband had the lamb, again with a different selection of vegetables. if you are adventurous, you can even try frogs legs or sweetbreads. as your 3rd course, you can select either sweets or cheeses. we decided on the sweets, because these are displayed in what we call a sweet trolley. this isn’t a normal sweet trolley, every sweet is displayed in an individual dish and it is so difficult to choose 3 as there are chocolate gateaus, rum babas, creme brulees, tiramasu, trifles, to name but a few. if you want large meals with fries, don’t eat here. the chef in this restaurant serves food to a very high standard and it is worth the less than an hour’s trip from calais to stay here.
the owners and staff are very friendly and pleasant.
the rooms are clean and basic with t.v. but no coffee making facilities, but you can ask for these at an extra cost. the rooms aren’t luxurious with all mod cons, but if you want clean accommodation at a reasonable price of and excellent food, this is the place to stay.
