I stayed at the Best Western Saphir Lyon Hotel in October 2009. While the hotel is a short few blocks from the Gorge de Loup metro stop, it is located in a modern business neighborhood of the city and not within walking distance of any major tourist sites or restaurants. It was a cheap and comfortable place to stay, but you will have to take the metro to get anywhere worthwhile.

Cheap, good metro connection to the old town, great stopover on the way to Spain
Price on the Internet cheaper than on Hotel Reservation
Quiet location was very welcome to interrupt the stressful drive from Germany to Spain. The staff was very friendly and accommodating, we could but unfortunately the night on the return trip did not offer the same low price as booking via the Internet. This was a great pity. Otherwise, we found everything in order, even the night with 2 adults and 3 children together in two double rooms.
