On a busy residential street adjoining the Place de la Republique, this budget property is close to shops, cafes, museums and the Marais. Fresh food stores, markets, metro links and a flourishing cafe culture make this area in the 3rd arrondissement one of the most livable localities in Paris. The Republique metro is a few minutes' walk from the hotel and the right bank of the Seine around 15 minutes away on foot, the Notre Dame a little further. The Aquarelle Hotel, like many in Paris, occupies an old townhouse and its rooms are bright and basic with high ceilings and big French doors that open up to street views. Once all the obvious sights have been visited, guests looking to discover another level of French culture must visit the nearby Pompidou Center and the Picasso Museum.

In a word, it was a good experience to stay in this hotel. I liked the people there.
Restaurant Tip : There are many restaurants near the hotel. One set menu adding a drink is about 20 Euros.

If you only use the hotel to sleep, you may be OK. We are the kind of travelers who wake up early, sightsee all day long, and come back to the hotel just to go to bed. The concierge had told us about a store where we found replacement casettes for our video camera at prices three times lower than in the general store. They gave us good advice every time we asked them.

If you are not too many demands on a new crisp design a hotel in a great spot fine (and running for the subway) for little money.
